Chapter 683:
As an experimental subject, Verruckt, Subject 005, should know all too well how vile these illegal experiments were. Yet, it was a cruel twist to find that he had risen to command the very monstrosity that had once ensnared him.
Verruckt continued speaking. âKeep a close watch on the Immortality Group. Their management is fracturing. It wonât be long before they make a move against us.â Then he hung up with a sharp click.
Though unable to see him, Gordon picked up faint sounds through Allisonâs earpiece.
Fingers flying over his keyboard, he swiftly messaged Allison. âStay safe, and donât respond if you canât.â
Each new bit of intel flickered onto her HUD as he typed. âThe organization behind Fleeingland Lab is the Immortality Group,â he relayed. âTheyâve been fronting as a charitable medical research company, all to hide their less-than-savory operations.â
Allison frowned. Even Gordon hadnât connected the dots that the Immortality Groupâa corporation famous for its philanthropic venturesâwould be running the most notorious human experimentation lab in existence.
âAnd hereâs another twist,â he continued. âImmortality Pharmaceuticals recently had a shake-up. Multiple upper-management deaths point to some serious internal conflict.â
Allison barely had time to process this new layer of intrigue when Verruckt moved across the room, donning a sleek, gray lab suit.

The clinical uniform, with its muted tones, somehow amplified his chilling aura.
He was adjusting his cuffs slowly, at his own pace, when he suddenly shifted his gaze toward the wall-length mirror.
Allisonâs heart skipped a beat.
She was barely hidden in the shadows behind a server unit, folded into the cramped space in a desperate attempt to remain unseen.
And then it happened â what sheâd feared most.
Clickâ
The server lights blinked beside her, flickering as though something had glitched. Verruckt casually moved toward the source of the sound like it was routine protocol.
Allison, wedged between the server and the wall, watched as the man advanced, step by steady step, bringing him dangerously close to her hiding spot.
Allisonâs pulse pounded in her ears as she instinctively held her breath.
The slightest rustle would betray her, and in a place like this, that meant only one outcome: death.
As Verruckt loomed closer, the server blinked back to life, its systems stabilizing as quickly as theyâd faltered. But his pace didnât stop.
