Chapter 761:
Allison nervously bit her lip. âI was just in the reception room and overheard those two guests talking badly about Mr. Shaw and the lab. I couldnât help but confront them,â she explained quickly. âThey spilled coffee on my hand by accident. It wasnât on purpose, so thereâs no need to let such a small thing affect the labâs work with them.â
But Jareth was visibly upset, his chest rising and falling with anger. âAccidentally? I highly doubt it was an accident!â he snapped. His expression turned cold in an instant. âAlice, tell me exactly how they insulted Mr. Shaw and the lab.â
Allison frowned, recalling the conversation with frustration. âThey said it was easy to get the drugs and that coming to our lab was doing us a favor.â
Jarethâs face darkened even more. It had been a long time since he had come across such boldness.
âWait here. Iâll go see whatâs going on,â he said, getting ready to head toward the reception room.
But Allison stopped him. âDonât go. Please, calm down.â
She stressed her point. âEven if you confront them, they wonât admit to anything. They might even turn it around and blame us.â She shook her head, then added, âMr. Williamson, please donât let this ruin our collaboration with them. Just make sure we donât get the short end of the stick in the negotiations.â
Jareth slowly relaxed, taking a rare moment to study Allison.
He hadnât expected her to be so considerate, taking on the unfairness for the sake of the bigger picture.
âI wonât confront them now. Go tend to your injury first,â he said.
âOkay, thank you, Mr. Williamson,â Allison replied, turning to look for a first aid kit.
Her attitude became casual. She hoped that Jareth would pass on her words exactly as she said them to Verruckt.
Jareth walked directly to Verrucktâs office and knocked on the door.
âMr. Shaw, the two clients who came in today were extremely rude, and they even burned Alice.â
He made Allisonâs words sound more dramatic as he reported them to Verruckt.
âThe couple is still in the reception area.â
Since last night, Verrucktâs relationship with Allison had become complicated. He had been bothered by this matter the entire day. The news only made his anger grow.
Verruckt looked up with a cold, hard stare.
âLet them wait. Make things tough for them. Donât go easy on them.â
âGot it.â Jareth nodded.
