Chapter 764:
Verruckt gave a quiet, mocking laugh. âSo what?â He didnât care in the least. In fact, he thought it was absurd that Allison even brought it up.
Allison knew his rebellious nature and was certain that he would rise to the challenge. She had to stay cautious.
âSo⦠so this isnât something we can do,â she said firmly.
âItâs just putting on some medicine, Alice. He wonât mind,â Verruckt said, roughly applying the treatment to her wound, leaving her no chance to refuse. He loomed over her, his presence casting a dark shadow.
âAnyway, itâs too late to mention your boyfriend. His being around wonât change anything for me. Honestly, I donât care at all,â Verruckt said, gripping her wrist tightly. âWhy stick with some poor guy when you could be with me? I could make you rich.â
âMr. Shaw⦠itâs too sudden. I need some time to think,â Allison replied, pulling her hand free.
Just then, Jareth knocked from outside. Seizing the moment, Allison said, âYou can get back to work. I need some space to clear my head.â
Without a second thought, she hurried out, moving as though she were escaping a threat.

Once she was gone, the air in the office grew cold and tense.
Jareth stepped into the office, instantly sensing the tense atmosphere. He noticed Verrucktâs icy, almost hostile look and couldnât make sense of it. He kept quiet, not daring to speak.
Why did he have to show up now with these documents? The timing couldnât be worse. Jareth wished he could vanish into thin air.
It was clear that someone had pissed off his boss once again. Verruckt broke the silence, his voice full of arrogance. âDo you know about her boyfriend?â It was obvious who Verruckt meant.
Jareth hadnât expected the question, but he answered carefully, âI know a little. Aliceâs boyfriend used to work here as a cleaner on the first floor. He quit a few days ago after a work injury. They lived together in the white rental building.â
As he remembered how Allison had fought to avoid moving, Verrucktâs expression darkened further.
âGo on,â he demanded.
Jareth swallowed hard, his nerves getting the best of him. He spoke carefully. âHer boyfriend entered the country illegally too. If you want, it wouldnât be hard to take care of him quietly.â He understood Verrucktâs methods â ruthless and efficient, always eliminating any threats without hesitation.
Especially when it came to rivals in love, dealing with them would be straightforward.
But Verruckt, clearly irritated, waved him off. âNo need for that. Just gather all the details on this person.â
