Chapter 845:
âAllison, youâve got admirers left and right. All I want is Colton. How is that wrong?â Melanyâs voice softened, a plea hidden beneath her words.
Allisonâs smile was thin and knowing. âWorry not, you two are a perfect match, and I wonât separate you. But just make sure your husband stops pestering me.â
âHe just got carried away today,â Melany defended, though inside she was struggling to maintain her facade. Allisonâs every word seemed to chip away at her illusions.
âEven if thereâs love between you, will it endure?â Allison subtly shifted the conversation. âRemember, Lindyâs condition hasnât improved. Youâre here in Vrining for that, right? If she doesnât get better, surely you know how sheâll treat you.â
Melany scoffed coldly. âDonât fret. Colton and I will nurse Lindy back to health. Sheâll appreciate my efforts.â
âWhy all this fuss? Youâre chasing that special medicine, arenât you?â Allison prodded, touching a nerve. âWhy not just beg? I might just take pity on you.â
As expected, this only fueled Melanyâs fury further. She felt Allison was deliberately flaunting.
âNo thanks. We donât need anything from the MDH,â Melany declared, her voice laced with resolve. âIâll find another way to get the medication!â

With that, she ended the call, leaving the room engulfed in silence. Melany sat, her thoughts stormy and agitated. Not long after, Colton stumbled in, the scent of alcohol clinging to him, and sadness etched deep in his eyes. He barely noticed Melany there.
âColton, you had me worried.â Melany reached out and grasped his hand, her voice laden with concern. âWhy did you come back so late?â
Melany eyed Colton warily, trying to gauge his mood. He shrugged off her concern. âI wasnât with anyone, just had a few too many.â
It wasnât that Colton was indifferent to Melanyâs feelings; he was simply overwhelmed by the way Allison had manipulated him and cast him aside. âI see,â Melany said, her face hardening.
It was clear to her that Colton wasnât being honest. He had been with Allison. Yet, it wasnât the time to confront him, so she feigned ignorance. âColton, I know Iâve made mistakes. Iâll talk to Allisonââ
Her words were abruptly cut off.
âAllison doesnât want to see you,â Colton interjected, his tone cold as he poured himself a glass of water. As the chill of the water cooled his throat, his thoughts began to clear a bit.
He puzzled over why Allison was at that club. The sight of the black car that had whisked her away lingered in his mind.
Meanwhile, Melany, unaware of his swirling thoughts, started to weep softly. âAfter all these years, if you truly have no feelings for me, maybe we should just end it and get a divorce.â
