Chapter 881:
âIâm just changing clothes,â Allison responded casually, lifting the outfit in her hand as proof.
âThereâs less than an hour before weâre off the clock, and Iâve got dinner plans with Verruckt tonight. Thought Iâd try on my date outfit. Is that against the rules?â She said it all with a sly smile, fully aware that Lena had a soft spot for Verruckt. Each word was chosen to hit a nerve.
Lenaâs reaction came as no surprise. She stormed out, her face red with anger.
âWhatâs so special about her anyway?â she muttered under her breath as she left.
A couple of minutes later, Allison lifted the blinds again without a care in the world.
The researchers outside exchanged glances, whispering among themselves.
âDo you think Alice knows Lena has a thing for Mr. Shaw?â one asked, keeping their voice low.
âShe knows,â another replied. âLetâs stay out of it.â
âSmart thinking, especially since Lenaâs got a short fuse,â someone muttered.
Ten minutes later, Allison pulled the blinds down again. By this point, no one paid much attention â it had become routine.
Lena, on the other hand, tried to convince herself to stay out of it.

Alice was obviously messing with her, and she knew it. Still, Lena couldnât resist. She flung the door open yet again.
âWhat exactly are you trying toââ she started, but Allison cut her off without missing a beat.
âI just want to take a nap, Miss Perkins. Could you stop barging in already?â
Her tone was deliberately loud, ensuring that the researchers outside could hear every word.
Lena froze, suddenly at a loss for words.
She knew all too well that Alice would hide behind Verruckt again, and sheâd only end up more frustrated.
âFine! Sleep all you want until Mr. Shaw gets here!â Lena snapped.
Without another word, she stormed out, drained from Allisonâs constant antics.
The door slammed shut behind her with a loud âbang,â and Allisonâs expression hardened.
This time, she didnât bother raising the blinds. Instead, she tapped her earpiece and spoke to Kellan.
âIs everything in place?â she asked.
âEverythingâs ready,â Kellan replied quickly. âWeâve made it into the labâs courtyard, but thereâs heavy patrol near the exits. We canât stay still; we need to keep moving.â
Allison gave a curt nod, even though Kellan couldnât see her.
âTiming our escape is critical,â she said firmly.
She moved back to the blinds, opening them just enough to peek through.
It didnât take long for Allison to notice Lena sitting back at her desk, her face sour and her eyes deliberately avoiding the office door.
