Chapter 900:
He charged at Gordon, and the two immediately clashed. Meanwhile, Allison had no time to waste. Using the tall trees for cover, she fired at the enemy. âGordon, staying alive is the most important thing!â she shouted.
What she didnât realize was that Gordon, hidden in the shadows, was showing a brutal side as he fought.
âOkay, Iâll make sure I survive,â Gordon answered, his voice full of youthful resolve. A rare thrill surged through him.
Was this Allisonâs way of showing that she cared about him?
In the next instant, he pulled out a dagger and sliced the head off an attacker sneaking up on him. Blood sprayed, but Gordon didnât feel satisfied.
He planned to take out anyone who got in Allisonâs way.
The storm clouds covered the moon, as if a violent storm was about to hit.
Allison scanned the area quickly. The thick trees and uneven ground made it hard to shoot, so close combat became the only option.
âKellan, watch out for Verruckt,â she warned while fighting off attackers. âHeâs not normal. He was a test subject, with abilities far beyond the average.â She found herself surrounded by Verrucktâs men, exactly as he had intended.
It was clear that he wanted to kill Kellan right in front of her.
Verruckt, with his silver hair and red eyes, sneered, his face twisted with a mix of mockery and bitterness. âSheâs right. Youâve provoked a monster.â

Verruckt felt as though his heart had been ripped out, leaving behind a gaping wound. He had completely lost his sanity after being betrayed by the woman he cared about the most.
His laughter rang out, filled with terrifying madness.
âAlice, youâll pay for deceiving me.â
In the next instant, Verruckt charged straight at Kellan. âIâll kill you, so Alice can watch you die because of her,â Verruckt hissed, his voice cold and threatening. His animal-like eyes glowed with a cruel light in the darkness of the night.
Despite himself, Verruckt knew he had been deceived. The thought almost made him burst out laughing, filled with fury. He had opened up completely, exposing his past, his vulnerabilities, his weaknesses to Alice.
He had even forced himself to cut his cruise short, just to keep his word to her â to make sure he came back alive. He would have taken Alice away, even if it meant the mayor had to die.
But when he neared the lab, he saw something that shattered everything. There they were â Allison and Kellan, standing together in the flickering light of the flames, their closeness impossible to miss.
âLiar.â
The word echoed in his head, fueling his fury. His attacks became more deadly.
Kellan fought back with nothing but his fists, blocking Verrucktâs blows head-on.
âEven if you kill me, Allison will still win and get away,â Kellan said, dodging a punch and striking back with an elbow. âSheâs not anyoneâs to control. Iâll make sure she stays unstoppable.â
