He had been in a bad mood. If it hadn’t been for hearing about Melany’s pregnancy, he wouldn’t have even bothered coming to this house. But then he saw Allison.

Lindy, on the other hand, was entirely focused on Melany. She frowned and asked, “How did you fall?”

Melany began to whimper, acting pitiful. “Lindy, Allison pushed me for no reason. My baby…”

“The baby?” Lindy immediately grew concerned.

She turned to the servants and ordered, “Hurry, call the private doctor! If anything happens to my grandchild, none of you will make it out of here!”

The Stevens house quickly descended into chaos.

Even Keanu hadn’t seen this coming. “I didn’t push her.”

Allison didn’t feel like explaining herself to anyone, but she knew Keanu had always treated her well, so she felt it was only right to offer an explanation.

“Keanu, would you believe me if I said she fell by herself?” As soon as Allison spoke, Melany quickly covered her belly, looking innocent. “Keanu, this isn’t really Allison’s fault.” She shook her head, her eyes welling up with fake tears. “I was talking to Allison about Colton. She probably didn’t believe I’m carrying his child, so she accidentally pushed me… Honestly, I just lost my balance.”

Her words were enough to spark Lindy’s anger. “Allison, I know you did this on purpose! How vile you are! I should’ve seen your true colors long ago!”

“I’m warning you. If anything happens to Melany’s unborn child, I won’t let you off!”

In the past, Lindy might have masked her hostility with kindness. But things had changed. Ever since Allison’s fallout with the Stevens, Lindy’s life had spiraled into chaos. Frequent headaches and the lack of proper medication only added to her misery. In her eyes, Allison was the root of all her problems. Now, Lindy’s resentment burned brighter than ever.

Just then, Keanu stepped in front of Allison.

“Enough! Silence, all of you!” Keanu struck the floor hard with his cane as he spoke. “I know Allison, and I trust her. She would never do such a thing!”

“Thank you, Keanu,” Allison said, momentarily stunned. Her voice wavered slightly in surprise. She had long since grown used to being misunderstood. For the past three years, that had defined her life with the Stevens family. No matter how much effort she put in or how well she performed, she was constantly met with blame and scorn. But Keanu had always been the exception. He was the one person who stood by her without question. His unwavering support was a lifeline for her, but it only seemed to stoke Melany’s resentment further.

“Keanu, I didn’t want to bring this up, but the guilt is eating me alive.” Melany squeezed out a few tears and looked at Allison with a pitiful expression. “Allison, Colton died because of you. And now, could you spare my unborn child?”

Melany’s face was a picture of fear and desperation. Her trembling voice filled the living room, leaving everyone stunned. Keanu was the first to break the silence.

“What nonsense are you talking about?”
