Chapter 960:
âItâs Mr. Stevens⦠Mr. Stevens is back!â
Colton stood in the doorway, looking tired and frail. His chest and arms were wrapped in bandages, his hair was messy, and his shirt was wrinkled.
Seeing him, Melany found herself standing up without even realizing it.
She was stunned, as though in a dream. Colton was alive and had come back.
She looked up and whispered, âColton?â
When Melany had woken up the day after Colton went to the research institute, she saw missed calls from him on her phone. But when she tried to call him back, his phone was off.
Later, she learned that the research institute had been destroyed in an explosion, with many bodies burned beyond recognition. After that, Melany heard nothing from Colton for several days.
She mourned, convinced he must have died.
Lindy rushed forward and grabbed Coltonâs arm, holding it tightly.
âColton, let me see you! Iâm so happy youâre alive!â Lindy cried with joy, wiping away her tears repeatedly. âI always knew you had good luck and would come back to me.â
âWho said I was dead?â Colton frowned, clearly irritated. The moment he walked into the living room, he saw Allison surrounded by people. âWho allowed you to treat Allison like this? Get out, all of you!â

âYes, Mr. Stevens.â The servants quickly scattered.
Allison relaxed her clenched fists. She wasnât shocked that Colton was alive. She just hadnât expected Melany to believe he was dead.
The old butler quickly helped Colton sit on the sofa. âMr. Stevens, youâre finally back.â
Colton looked up and saw Keanu, wearing an oxygen mask, staring at him with tears in his eyes. âGrandfather, what happened here?â
Lindy stepped forward at once. âItâs all Melanyâs fault! She kept insisting you had died abroad! See? Your grandfather even fainted from the shock.â
Colton hurried to Keanuâs side. âGrandfather, Iâm sorry for causing you worry. How are you feeling now?â Keanu tightly grasped his hand and slightly nodded.
The private doctor explained, âThanks to Ms. Clarke giving Mr. Stevens his medication in time, heâs much better now, but he still needs oxygen to settle down.â
âThatâs good.â Colton glanced over at Allison from across the room. In the past three years, whenever he got sick or had a fever, Allison had always been there. And now, he had come back from the edge of death. Colton wondered if Allison felt any guilt or if she had ever been worried about him.
Colton stared at Allison. âThanks for saving Grandpa,â he said.
After being apart for so long, he sadly realized that their reunion wasnât as he had imagined. Allisonâs face remained cold and distant. What had happened in Fleeingland seemed like nothing more than a dream.
