Chapter 981:
âHow much do you pay my daughter each month, if you donât mind me asking?â
Meanwhile, Mindy couldnât stop staring at Allisonâs clothes. She reached out, eager to touch the fabric.
âWow, your outfit is stunning. It mustâve cost a fortune, right?â she said.
Before her hand could make contact, a sharp flash of cold steel flew through the air.
Thud!
The dagger slammed into the table, barely missing her fingers by a hair.
If it had been just a little closer, it wouldâve sliced through her fingers.
âWhat⦠whatâs going on?â Mindy jerked her hand away, stumbling back in shock.
Even Troy jumped, instinctively pulling her into his arms. âLetâs calm down! No need to get violent!â
Years of avoiding debt collectors had taught them one thing: someone like Allison couldnât be messed with.
The dagger still had stains of blood on it, the blade untouched by a cloth.
Allison didnât waste time. âWho did you borrow your high-interest loans from?â
Troy recoiled, his face showing clear signs of guilt.
âWe⦠We didnât take any high-interest loans. Youâve got the wrong people,â he mumbled, unable to meet her eyes.
Kellan shot him a cold, hard look.
âYou sold your daughter for four hundred thousand. Weâve got the proof. Want me to call the police and let them handle it?â he said, his voice sharp.
Allison yanked the dagger from the table. âIf you donât come clean, I canât guarantee what will happen next,â she warned.
Troy swallowed nervously, shaking with fear.
âSheâs your employee. Isnât it your responsibility to protect her?â he stammered.
Mindy tried to play the victim. âWeâre just regular people! How could we ever take on those loan sharks?â she pleaded.
Allison gave a mocking smile. She wasnât falling for it.
âTell me which platform you used and how the loan was set up,â she demanded.
The dagger in her hand sparkled ominously.
It was only then that the couple realized they had made a grave mistake in crossing the wrong person.
âPlease donât hurt us! Iâll tell you everything!â Mindy begged. She quickly pulled out a business card, showing a beauty salonâs address and phone number.
âI was just passing by when they invited me in. They promised all kinds of services and said I could borrow a huge sum of money. They even told me if I brought in new clients, Iâd only have to repay half of it,â she explained, her voice bitter as she recalled it. âLater, I found out it was all illegal and tied to Shadow Nine.â
Faking outrage, Troy slapped her. âYou fool! If it werenât for you, how would our daughter have ended up with those collectors?â
