Chapter 423 International Supermodel Melanie looked up, and adjusted her hat as she looked at the handsome face before her.
âYouâre Melanie Jones!â
When the man called out her name, Melanie suddenly realized who he was. He was Adam OâShea, a popular model and the darling of the fashion world.
He was of mixed descent and stood at a towering height of 195 centimeters. His thick brows, bright eyes, and sharp features propelled him swiftly to stardom as an ambassador highly sought after by various international brands within the past two years.
Some claim that he was born for the runway and the camera lenses. Otherwise, a model as perfect as he would not have been possible.
Melanie stood up and asked, âDo you know me?â
âIâve seen all of Mr. Smithâs cover shoots. My favorites are those two series in which youâre featured! The Genie of Fragrance!
You look even better than in the photos!â Adamâs eyes lit up as he praised Melanie with a smile.
âThank you,â Melanie thanked him politely.
âDo you always say so little?â Adam asked expectantly.
Melanie smiled coyly. âMr. Smithâs abilities are plain for all to see, but he said that heâs most proud about using his camera to highlight my beauty. He would be happy and sad at the same time to hear your praises.â
Adam laughed out loud at Melanieâs remark.
After his manager stepped forward to rush him, he said longingly, âMs. Yancey was the one who invited me to showcase her jewelry. I heard she invited you, too. Would you be willing to be my partner? Weâll take photos and catwalk down the stage together! If youâre willing, I can make a last -minute change to the finale of the show to feature a duo instead of a solo.â
What a direct invitation he was extending! Melanie was very surprised.
âThank you for the invitation, but Iâm just here to watch the show. Iâm not good at catwalks, and Iâll probably disappoint you,â Melanie rejected him as gently as she could.
âThatâs a pity...â Adam was still young, and wore his heart on his sleeves. Regret was written all over his face.
âIâm sure thereâll be chances for us to work together next time.â
+15 BONOS Melanieâs comment swept the gloom away from Adamâs face, and he bade her goodbye with a smile.
Melanie and Annie checked into the hotel Linda Yancey booked for them.
Linda was heavyâhanded in blocking out the entire Sky Street in Medoniaâs city center to construct a runway. She also booked the entire fiveâstar hotel along Sky Street to receive guests invited to watch the show.
When night fell, they headed to the restaurant for dinner and bumped into Kelly Murray at the door.
Kelly was accompanied by two women who looked familiar, but Melanie was sure she didnât know them. She tried hard to recall, and surmised that they were women who attended the Yorksâ banquet and mocked her together with Kelly.
âOh, look! If this isnât Miss Melanie Jones!â
Kelly started targeting Melanie the moment she saw Melanie.
âTo think sheâs trying to get into Ms. Yanceyâs good books after sucking up to Morgan Group. I feel so touched seeing someone from the bottom trying so hard to climb up the ladder!â
Melanie smiled vaguely, and ignored her insult. âMs. Yancey is the highlight of this jewelry show, and everyone else is just second fiddle. According to your logic, everyone else is here to get into Ms. Yanceyâs good books. In that case, youâre no different from me. Donât bother insulting yourself, Ms. Murray.â
âWhat do you know?!â Kelly flipped her hair back and glared at Melanie. âIâm not here to get into anyoneâs good books! My family is the main organizer of Ms. Yanceyâs jewelry show!â
âExactly! Country bumpkins like her have no idea. Ms. Murray, donât stoop to her level.â
The women behind Kelly seized the chance to boot lick. âOnly the Murrays have the capacity to take on such a largeâscale fashion show.
âI heard that international supermodel Adam OâShea is the finale model Ms. Yancey invited, and Ms. Murray is going to partner with him on the runway! Ms. Murray will be on the headlines of every single fashion news outlet and magazine! Sheâll be the envy of every woman in the world!â
âThatâs nothing. Adam simply took a look at my photo, and said that Iâm very suitable to be his partner. He specifically called for me,â Kelly said smugly as she showed off, her nose in the air.
+15 BONOS âGoodness!â
âAdam OâShea is famous for being difficult to deal with, and has high standards for his partner. Ms. Murray is a born beauty indeed!â
The two women behind her began praising her to the heavens once more.
The sight of Kellyâs smug and disdainful look made Melanie ask indifferently, âAre you sure you didnât hear him wrongly?â
âWhat did you say?â Kelly furrowed her brows.
âAre you sure Adam OâShea specifically asked for you to be his partner?â Melanie repeated her question.
âBut of course!â Kelly claimed confidently, glaring at Melanie.
Melanie blinked. If Kelly wasnât shooting her mouth off, then Adam OâShea was a flirtatious playboy who went around asking every woman he crossed paths with to be his partner...
Yet, she heard that Adam OâShea had always been picky with his partner. It seemed more likely that Kelly was just boasting.
âIf you say so.â
Melanie turned around to leave, but Kelly continued chasing after her, refusing to let her go.
âMelanie Jones, I just canât stand that haughty and disdainful look in your eyes! Get off your high horse! Who do you think you are? You come from such a lowly family, but you think youâre a princess!â
Annie, who had been by Melanieâs side all along, kept her silence as Melanie held her back from cutting in. At this point, Annie could no longer hold it in. She was about to turn around and rebut Kelly, when Melanie held her back again.
âSheâs making personal attacks on you! I canât condone her behavior!â Annie said indignantly.
Melanie pulled Annie back, and coaxed her, âSee that? The first few dishes are all your favorites.
Letâs eat.â
Annie followed Melanie helplessly. Only after they walked well away from them did she ask, âWhy didnât you let me teach her a lesson?â
âThis is Ms. Yanceyâs show. We shouldnât be stealing the limelight,â Melanie said.
âWe werenât the ones who started things. Even if Ms. Yancey gets upset, sheâll find out that it was 3/4 âDonât worry. Sheâll shoot herself in the foot very soon Melanie said with a wink.
