Colby's POV

"JULIA!" I yelled, hearing her screams fade away. "God damnit." I hissed and continued driving.

"What's happening?" Jeremy asked as I clenched my jaw. "I'd like to say I found the most dangerous criminal in the state, but nope. It was my ex girlfriend." I grumbled.

"Wait. Julia's with him?!" Jeremy asked as I nodded.

"That's what I'm assuming. Someone was following her and she said that he was a murderer. We have to hurry." I said and focused on the road.

Since I drove Julia here, I needed to call for reinforcements.

Jeremy drove up here so that we could investigate someone who very clearly wasn't Adam.

"Well what's our plan?" Jeremy asked as I clenched my jaw.

"I don't know yet. Obviously I have no idea where they are taking her. It's none of my business what they do with Julia. It is my business that we catch him though." I said and focused on the road.

I hated that I was feeling so worried about Julia.

Obviously it was a normal thing to worry about someone who called you in a terrified state, but I meant what I said when I couldn't get involved with her.

"You don't mean that." Jeremy said as I snapped my head to look at him. "I will kick you out of this moving vehicle." I said with a serious tone. "Right. Sorry." Jeremy said as I looked straight ahead.

Spokane was only an hour away and I got in the car the minute Julia told me someone was following her.

The whole reason I gave her my number was so that I could be there if anything happened so that was the reason I was being so urgent.

It had to be the reason.

We drove for an hour before we got to Spokane. I didn't know exactly where I was supposed to go because there was no telling where they took her.

"Do we have a plan yet?" Jeremy asked as I drove. "If you don't stop questioning me, then I will kill you. Stop." I said angrily.

Was that a little dramatic? Possibly. I didn't care though.

I didn't like seeming unprepared.

My plan as of now was to go to his house, then to the junkyard he always went to.

Those were the only two options I had right now.

We drove to Adam's house, only to see nothing. There weren't any cars or people around but it would be dumb not to check.

I pulled my gun out and slowly made my way to the front door.

It didn't seem like there was anyone here but it was better to be safe than sorry.

I kicked the door down and kept my gun drawn, looking around.

It was a simple place with beaten down furniture. It looked way grosser on the inside than it did on the outside.

"I don't think he's here." I mumbled and let out a sigh.

"It looks like this is where he was hiding." Jeremy said as I nodded.

"Yeah, makes sense considering who he is." I said then led the way out.

When we got back to the car I checked my phone to make sure Julia didn't message me.

If she did then I would know she had her phone and I could easily locate her, but she didn't send me anything.

I sighed then started the car and began driving. I found myself driving on Market Street, which was where Julia was when she called me.

If I could find her car maybe it would help me find her.

We drove for a little while before we saw a car flipped over in the middle of the road.

There was a couple cops, a fire truck, and an ambulance parked on the side of the road.

Julia's car was so smashed up I was surprised she was able to survive the crash.

"Jesus." Jeremy said as I nodded. I was looking for any sort of indication as to where they could have gone.

On the road were tire marks going towards the other direction.

That was a good start.

When we drove passed the car a cop stopped me, telling me to roll my window down.

"You know anything about this?" He asked as I shook my head. "No sir, just headed home." I said and looked at the car.

"Alright. Hurry through." He said then waved me on. "Thanks." I said then started driving.

I wished that there were tire marks leading exactly to where they took Julia but nothing could be easy.

Especially nothing relating to Julia.

That girl had a knack for getting herself into danger.

I blamed myself the first time and I blamed the fact that crime was literally in her blood, but she could have avoided this one.

If she would have just kept to herself this wouldn't have happened.

"When I was stalking this guy, he went to the junkyard a lot. He was never there for a long period of time though." I explained, driving down the road.

"You know better than anyone that things aren't always like they seem." Jeremy said as I nodded. "That's why we are headed there." I said blandly.

I didn't like that I was already letting my guard down. I was much better than this now and if people caught wind that I was distracted again then I would be fucked.

I wasn't distracted, I was just in the dark about all of this.

"Call Will." I said to my car, focusing on the road. "Hey, boss." He answered after a couple rings.

"Hey. We've got a situation here. Be ready to come for backup." I said with a cold tone.

"I'm always ready. Did you find our guy?" He asked as I rolled my eyes. "Someone found him." I grumbled.

"That's great! Let me know what I need to do." He said as I sighed.

"As of now, just be on call. We haven't found him yet but when we do I'll take care of him." I said and pulled up to the dump.

"Sounds good." He said as I nodded and hung up. "Stay here. If I'm not back in five minutes come look for me." I said and got out of the car, drawing my gun.

I slowly made my way around the piles of garbage, looking for an entrance to a secret building or anything that was like our base.

There had to be something here.

It would make literally no sense for Adam to come here all the time if there was nothing here for him.

I walked around for a minute before I heard something hollow beneath me.

There was a board that looked almost like a trap door.

"Jackpot." I mumbled then looked up at Jeremy, signaling to him that I found something.

As he walked over I leaned down and lifted the wood, seeing that it led to a set of stairs.

"Is this a good idea?" Jeremy asked as I rolled my eyes. "Shut the fuck up and follow my lead." I said with annoyance.

I hated that he was questioning me right now. No matter how hard I've worked the past couple years it still felt like everyone was doubting me.

I understood I was filling some big shoes, but I knew what I was doing.

I didn't leave my gang in LA to be doubted by people who were smaller than me.

When I lifted the wood completely, I jumped down to go down the stairs.

"Pull your gun, dumbass." I seethed as Jeremy followed me.

We slowly and carefully made our way down the stairs until we reached a door on the bottom.

"Be ready for anything." I mumbled and put my hand on the door.

I took a deep breath then opened the door, swinging it with force.

The room we were met with looked like it was made of bricks. There wasn't much in the room at all.

It wasn't like our base by any means. This wasn't built to be a lair or base.

It was built to be a prison.

I let my eyes move through the dark room until I saw a chair in the corner.

Julia was tied to a chair with a dirty cloth shoved in her mouth.

She was bruised and bleeding, probably from the car accident she was in. Or maybe they did it to her.

She didn't look scared though until she looked up to see me.

As soon as her eyes fell on mine they widened and filled with panic.

She started mumbling something into the cloth in her mouth as she shook her head frantically.

It was almost like she was warning me of something.

Before I could comprehend anything, I was being struck in the head by something causing Julia to scream against the cloth.

I grunted, stumbling slightly before I was struck again causing me to stumble and start to pass out.
