Flashback
A young man around 24 years old looks inside the hospital room through a glass window. He has unshredded tears in his eyes as his intense gaze fixed on the small dedicated figure lying on the bed with tubes and wires attached to her body.
"Ranveer, police caught the culprit," His father said from behind making his jaw clench and his whole body started shaking in rage.
"Where is he?" he asked in a low, dangerous voice as turn to look at his father.
"Ranveer control yourself. The police are there to punish him, don't take law in your hand," his father tried to make him understand by seeing the fire in his eyes.
"I will kill him, Dad. I will not leave for hurting my Naina, for destroying her life. He will see the hell," He angrily whispered as angry tears flowed down his eyes.
He glances at Naina's unconscious form for a second before turning to go away but he stops hearing his mother's broken voice.
"Don't be reckless Ranveer. Think calmly. At least think about Naina. She needs you Ranveer. She needed her best friend right now. Don't do something in anger that will get you in trouble. You can deal with other things later," hearing his mother's words, he thought for a minute before sitting on the bench outside the Naina's.
Damini came to him and sat beside him. She caresses his back making him let out a shaky breath.
Tears again appear in his eyes as he looks at his mother with a broken look.
"Maâ¦Naina. How can someone be so cruel to-" he cried holding his mother Damini's hands tightly.
"Ma, they rape my Naina. They kill my Naina's soul. How will I face her? I couldn't protect my only best friend," Damini hugged his son and cried with him.
Naina is like a daughter to Damini, that she never had. She has known her since childhood as she and Ranveer were friends since they were 12.
Damini looks at her husband with tears who shakes his head telling her not to fell weak.
They suddenly stood up when they saw the doctor was coming toward them.
"Doctor, when will she wake up? It's been two weeks since she is unconscious," Damini asked worriedly.
"Ma'am we can't do anything. She is in trauma and it seems she didn't want to fight. It's all depend on her and god," Ranveer felt numb and without thinking anything he ran inside the room and hugged Naina who has been in deep sleep for two weeks.
"Naina please wake up yaar. Why are you troubling me? I will listen to all your babble and will never stop from eating my food and cursing me. But just open your eyes," He cries, hugging her tightly.
"I will not leave that monster, Naina. He will regret coming to the world. That is my promise to you, Naina," he said with determination in his eyes.
"Your this stupid bodyguard failed to protect you. I am sorry, Yaar. Forgive me for not being with you when you are fighting for yourself. I will die with this guilt, Naina," he softly said looking at her dull face.
"Enough of your acting, Naina. Wake up right now or I..I won't talk to you ever," he firmly said cupping her face softly.
He saw tears roll down from the corner of her eyes and felt her chin tremble.
"Naina.." he calls softly caressing her hairs.
"Ra..nve.er," she breathed out, then took a long deep breath.
She slowly opened her eyes and in no time they filled with tears as she saw the person in front of her eyes.
"Ran.veer.r" she said in her breaking voice with tears flowing from her eyes.
"He t..touch me. He raped me, Ranveer. It was painful. I can't live like this," she whispered looking at him with her watery eyes and sobbing badly.
He shook his head and kiss her forehead,
"Don't talk like this. You are my strong Naina, my superwoman, " he comforted her while himself breaking seeing her in this condition.
His always giggling best friend is looking so lifeless and pale. Instead of her giggling sound, her cries filled his ears.
"Your strong Naina died, Ranveer. She died the moment that monster touched her with the wrong intention. I wanted to die just kill me. The pain is unbearable," she whispered with difficulty as crying turned bitter.
Ranveer's heart clenched looking at her so hopeless and lifeless.
"Dare you to again talk about your death. We will leave for a long. I wanted to tease you when you would have no teeth and gray hairs on your head which proudly shows to everyone," she chuckled while crying and closed her eyes.
"As if you will be the same till then," he smiles sadly and holds her hand softly.
"Of course I will be this handsome in my old age. While you will be looking like grandma," they chuckle among their tears.
Deepti stared at them through the window with clench fists. She doesn't like the way they are talking and laughing.
"Who would say that this girl was raped? See how she is laughing?" Sumitra said with a scoff, making Damini snap her head at her with a hard glare.
"What I am justâ¦worried what would people say, Damini Ji. After all, we are reputed people in society , unlike that orphanage girl. People will question me and my daughter, Deepti," Sumitra shamelessly said in her fake worried tone.
"Dipti take your mother away from here or I don't know what would I say that may hurt you and her so called ego. And please stay away from Naina, you are not good for her, Sumitra. I am this respectful and tolerating your stupid behavior just because Deepti is Ranveer's fiance and Rajvansh would be daughter in law," Deepti looked down and nodded before taking her mother from there.
"Ma come with me," Deepti said, pleading with her mother through eyes not to do anything.
Deepti glanced at Ranveer and felt heart burning seeing how he was stroking Naina's hair who was sobbing badly in his arms. She walked away not able to see him so soft with her.
Ranveer and Damini are silently sitting on the couch of Naina's room while she is sleeping after the nurse gave her medicine.
"Ma, I want Naina to stay with us in Rajvansh Villa until she is mentally and physically strong. I am scared she would harm herself if left alone," Ranveer said in a low voice not wanting to disturb her sleep.
"I was thinking the same. Also we all will be there for her. Living with everyone will keep her occupied from thinking about that incident," Damini looked at the lifeless face of Naina and felt a pinch in her heart seeing her in so much.
Ranveer nodded and stood up.
"Where are you going, Ranveer?" Damini looked up and asked with a frown.
"I have some important work, Ma," saying he walked out of the room. Damini sigh knowing where he must be going.
Damini looks at Naina who is staring aimlessly outside the window. Sighing, she walked to her and placed her plan on her shoulder. Naina flinches badly but seeing Damini she calms down.
"Naina, let's go downstairs for breakfast. You must be hungry, beta" Naina looked at her.
"I will eat in the room," she simply said and turned her head again to look at the sky.
"Naina dear, I know it's not easy for you but you have to be strong. For how long will you cage yourself in this room? One day you have to face the people. I want my bubbly, cheeky and talking Naina back. Stay strong bachcha. And always remember me and Ranveer will always be with you," Tears are flowing from Naina's eyes as her mind again went back to the worst night of her life, 4 weeks ago.
How one of her colleagues forced himself on her by taking away her dignity, her innocence when she refused his proposal in front of everyone. How she screams and cries bitterly for help in her lonely house. How that monster was smiling while killing her soul.
She sobs, hugging Damini as she feels shiver and disgust with her body. It felt as if something was crawling and scratching her skin.
"He touched me, Aunty. He made me dirty. I hate myself for not being strong enough to fight that monster, I hate my helplessness," Damini cuddles her in her chest and rubs her back to console her. Her eyes are also burning with punished tears.
"You are strong bachcha. You are the strongest my dear. I am so proud of my strong Naina. You fight back for your life. You are not dirty. That horrible human who touched my daughter is dirty and disgusting. You are still as pure and innocent as before," Damini tells as she cups her face and gently wipes tears from her face.
Naina looks at her with glossy hopeless eyes like a baby and sniffs badly to control herself from breaking down.
Ranveer was playing with his food as he was lost somewhere.
"Ranveer, eat your food instead of playing with it," he snapped, hearing his father's stern voice.
Rajveer looks at his brother with a sad smile feeling bad for him and Naina. Everyone knows how important she is to him, after all she is his one and only best friend. Now seeing her so broken, it hurts everyone especially Ranveer.
Suddenly everyone's eyes turn toward stairs and widen in shock seeing Naina coming down with Damini.
For two weeks, since she got discharged from hospital,she locked herself in the room and only allowed Ranveer and Damini to come.
Ranveer's eyes light up seeing her coming inside the dining room. He looked at his mother with a grateful look to which she smiled and nodded her head.
His father, Mahendra Singh Rajvansh, look at his wife then at Naina with a soft gaze. He is a very cold and strict man but for his wife he is the softest and most caring man. But after Naina comes into their life he feels an unknown emotion in his heart. He always wanted a daughter but due to some medical issue Damini couldn't conceive after Rajveer. But Naina fills that gap in his heart. He always treated her with love and softness whenever she visited them.
But now seeing her so lifeless and in pain, he felt hurt. Rajveer looked at her, not believing the person who always has this beautiful heart melting smile is looking so broken. It pained him seeing her emotionless eyes.
Damini serves food for her and smiles at her. They silently had their breakfast. As soon as she finished her food she went to room.
And this continues for the whole month. Everyone was trying their best to comfort her and put her out of the trauma but she remained the same, alone and hopeless.
Ranveer used to come to her room and try to talk with her but gets only one or two words from her. Sometimes she reacts to his talk which was very rare but it gives him hope every time her lips curve so slightly when he reminds her about their childhood memories.
After 1 month,
Deepti and Ranveer were beside each other as their family gathered to decide their marriage date and Rajveer and Urmila's engagement date.
Deepti is smiling with a little blush on her face as she looks at Ranveer from her side eyes.
Naina is sitting beside Damini and feeling happy for her best friend and Rajveer. Ranveer looks at her blank face every now and then to make sure she is comfortable with so many people around her. She has become anti-social since that incident.
Deepti's smile fell when she noticed his eyes, not Naina. She looks at Naina who is whispering something in Damini's ear to which she nodded her head and patted her head. Her eyes turn hard and she clenches her jaw in anger.
Naina stood up making Ranveer look at her in question but he didn't ask her. He saw her walking toward the stairs to go upstairs.
To get attention, Deepti places her hand over his. Ranveer turns his eyes to her and smiles slightly seeing her smiling at him.
"I am so happy Ranveer ji," she said looking down with a blush cheek.
Ranveer gives her a forceful smile. Why suddenly he felt sad and unhappy about his wedding. He himself said yes when his mother asked him. But it's like something has changed. His heart is not happy. It's like he is not doing right. But why?
"NAINAA!!"
He comes out of his hearing her mother's scream. He looked where she was looking and saw Naina on the floor.
Everyone ran toward the base of the stairs. Ranveer looks at her pale face and holds her in arms with a worried and scared face.
"Rajveer called the doctor fast!" he heard his father saying in a concerned tone.
"Nainaâ¦hey, open your eyes," Ranveer whispered, feeling his throat tighten in pain.
"Ranveer took her to the room," Ranveer nodded and picked her up in his arms before going to her room. Damini and Mahendra also follow him to upstairs
Dipti and Urmila and their mother also go with them. Deepti is looking annoyed and frustrated thinking Naina is acting and fooling everyone. While Urmila was genuinely feeling bad for Naina's condition.
Ranveer's heart is beating fast as he is waiting for the doctor to come out of the room and inform about Naina's health.
Damini was with Naina in the room.
The door opens and the doctor comes out of the room with a troubled look on her face.
Suddenly he heard a loud painful cry of Naina making his heart drop in anxiety
"What happened, Doctor?" he asked with nervousness and fear in his voice.
The doctor sighs deeply.
"She is pregnant,"
He stumbled and held the wall for support as his body went numb.
Everyone was shocked to hear this. Mahendra held his head feeling heaviness in his chest.
Urmila felt tears formed in her eyes. Everyone can hear her painful cry loudly outside. Urmila walked inside the room to console her but the scene of her breaking down made her heart squeeze painfully.
"Hey bhagwan!! She is pregnant with the child of her rapist. Now what will people say now? Oh God!! Now how we face everyone. I have told Damini Ji not to keep this girl in the house but she didn't listen now see. This girl will destroy our name in society. Mahendre Ji, throws this girl out of the house before people know about her pregnancy. We all were gathered together for auspicious work but she put her evil eyes on our kids. These types of women are evil. The man who raped her was get killed in a accident. She is a bad omen, I am telling you. Now no one will accept her then why to keep this burden on our head,"
Ranveer was listening to her every word and with every word his rage was increasing.
He looked at her with his blood shot eyes and gritting teeth making her stop speaking and gulp in fear.
"Sumitra Ji, you better not talk in our family matters," Mahendra said dangerously with a warning underlying in his tone.
"And dare you to say anything about my daughter, I will not think twice before making your life hell," Sumitra scared badly, seeing both father and son glaring deadly at her as if they would kill her with their eyes.
"Mahendra Ji, I am just worried about our kids. People will tal-"
"ENOUGH!! Stop right there," Everyone flinched as Ranveer shouted loudly. Sumitra looks shocked and frightened.
"No one will say a word to Naina," saying he turned around and walked away from there.
Naina's crying sound lowered as he was walking away from her room. A painful lump fell in his throat and tears filled his bloodshot eyes.
He couldn't take it. It hurt like hell seeing his supporting and loving friend in this condition. It broke him completely when he looked at her lifeless and straight face.
Damini is caging Naina in her motherly embrace seeing her breaking completely. She is crying with her.
"AHhhh!!! Maa!! Why?!!!" she yells while crying her heart out holding Damini tightly to herself.
"I can't take it, Ma. I don't want to live. Please kill me," Damini shook her head, hugging her and hiding her in her embrace.
"Calm down, Naina," she whispered, rubbing her back.
Everyone has their eyes teary seeing her crying like a baby. But Deepti and Sumitra look at her in annoyance. Sumitra curses her in her mind.
Damini and Mahendra were sitting in the living room with a gloomy face after Damini made her sleep.
Deepti and Urmila are sitting silently beside their mother.
"What about marriage and engagement," Suddenly Deepti asked hesitantly, making Damini and her husband look at her in disbelief and anger.
"Dipti!! Didn't you see the Naina condition," Damini said while Urmila looked at her sister as if she got mad.
"Ma, just abort her baby. She will be fine after a few months. I understand her but she should now move on instead of sticking to her past. I think we should marry her off after her abortion," Deepti said in her low voice while everyone was looking at her as if she went crazy. How can she be so heartless?
"Di!! What are you even saying?" Urmila whispers give her bewildered look.
"But who will marry such a girl and now she has the dirty blood of that man inside her growing," Sumitra said with fake worry but her mocking tone didn't go unnoticed by anyone.
"I will marry her then," They all turn to see Ranveer coming inside the living room looking like a mess with his displaced hair and puffy red eyes as if he was crying.
"That child has my Naina's blood. And I will give that child my name. He/she is be my child from today. Everyone should get this thing in their head,"
Deepti felt her body go rigid in shock hearing his words. She couldn't let out a word from her mouth in shock. She run to him and hold his hands,
"What are you saying, Ranveer ji? We are soon going to marry. Don't worry take as much as time you want but not say like this," Deepti said
"I am sorry, Deepti but I can't do it," he said in guilt but there is determination in his eyes.
She took a step back in shock while looking at him in betrayal.
