Get Lit on Monday Night. Just Don't Fall in the Pool

A/N: Get ready. It's a pretty long chapter.

Now on with the story.

It's lunch, so I make my way to the cafeteria. I find my table and take a seat, where Bella is already eating her food. "So guess what?" She asks.

"What?" I ask tiredly, resting my head on my arm.

"Jasmine Velitino is having a party at her house tonight," she tells me, waiting for my reaction.

I give her a confused look. "On a fucking Monday night?"

"I know it's weird, but I really want to go," she says with a grin. "Please come with me?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "You don't need to ask me twice. Of course I'll go."

Her eyes beam as she continues eating her food.

I let out a sigh, as I grab out my phone. I see I got two texts. And both are from Nathan:

ugly✌️: hey minnie mouse. are you going to the party tonight??

ugly✌️: hello?

I look around the cafeteria, looking for Nathan. I spot him at his table, and he's smirking at me.

I look down at my phone and text a reply:

Me: wow fr?? you could've just walked over to my table..😒

ugly✌️: i'm too lazy. but are you going to the party or not?

Me: yea, im going

I look up from my phone and meet his green eyes. He winks at me and turns away. For some reason, I smile. Dumbass.

~

I'm at home, in front of my mirror. School ended probably three hours ago, and my sister and I are getting ready to go the party.

I'm surprised our mom let us go, but her exact words were: "Go have fun. But no stupid stuff or I'll kill you."

Basically, my Asian mom is amazing.

I stare at my 12th outfit in the mirror. My eyes widen when I realize I actually like this one. Ooh yes, me. Slay.

I give a few poses, and I finally decide that my outfit is worthy for a mirror selfie.

I hear a knock at my door. "Yes?" I ask, looking up from my phone.

My door opens, revealing Gemma. "Ooh, look at you," she says, admiring my outfit. "My little sister looks cute as hell."

"Thanks, Gemma," I laugh, posing in my outfit. "But you literally look like a queen right now."

"I know right," she says jokingly, flipping her hair to the side. "So, are you ready to go?"

"Hell, yes I am," I reply, grabbing my Adidas cap and following her out my room.

We head downstairs, where our mom is watching Korean drama in the living room. She turns her attention to us and a huge smile lights up her face. "Oh my, look at my daughters. Both of you look beautiful," she says. "Can I take a picture?"

I run my fingers through my hair. "Mom, you're acting like it's our first time going to a party."

"I know, but it's just that you look so grown up now," she says, smiling. "So can I please take a picture?"

"Sure, Mom," Gemma replies.

I let out a sigh and smile beside my sister. We hear a few clicks of the camera from Mom's phone. "I'm posting these on my Facebook," she declares after staring at her phone for a few minutes.

"You do that," Gemma says, heading to the door with me behind her. "Bye, Mom. Love you."

"Bye, have fun," she tells us, as we close the door.

We all agreed that Gemma will drive us to the party. Us, meaning me, Bella, Nathan, Will, and Kyle.

The party is only allowing juniors and seniors, so that means Derek can't come.

I text Nathan telling him we're waiting outside my house. A few moments later, three guys walk out of his house. And let me tell you, they look fine as hell.

Will is wearing a plain white shirt and jeans, with his hair looking like he just got out of bed.

Kyle is wearing a white shirt with a red flannel and joggers. His hair was combed, but there were still hairs sticking up.

And Nathan is wearing a grey shirt with a dark green jacket and Adidas sweatpants.

They made their way to our driveway. "Where's Bella?" Will asks.

"She's still coming. She's walking over here," I tell him.

I turn my head toward the side, and see Bella in the distance. She waves at me, and I wave back. "Work it, best friend," I yell so she can hear.

I see her stop and give a few poses. I let out a laugh as she finally makes her way over. "I regret walking over," she tells me, holding on to my shoulder. "I should've just asked my mom to drive me over. These heels are killing me."

I look down at her heels. "Then why'd you wear them?"

"Because they make me feel like a princess," she says, twirling in her outfit.

I smile at her. "Of course you are. Now, c'mon let's go," pulling her towards Gemma's car.

"Hey, Bella," Will says, sitting next to Nathan in the back seats.

"Oh god, we're gonna die in this car," I mumble, slowly realizing that four people are gonna have to squeeze in the back. And I'm one of them, because Kyle is sitting next to Gemma in the front.

I hop into the car and take a seat beside Nathan. Bella gets in after me, and now we're all finally in the car. It's not that bad as I thought it would be, it's just that we're squeezed together tightly and I can't fucking breathe.

Gemma backs out of the driveway and we make our way to the party.

~

It's been 10 minutes since we left my house, which means we're almost there.

Nathan has been on his phone for basically the whole entire ride, and Kyle, Will, and Bella are currently having a conversation about some new movie that's coming out.

I let out a sigh and take a glimpse at Nathan's phone. He's currently texting someone.

My eyes widen, when I see the name of the person he's texting at the top of the screen says Girl #13.

"Who the fuck is Girl #13?" I ask him quietly.

Surprised, he quickly looks at me and blocks the screen with his hand so I can't see. "What do you mean?"

I raise an eyebrow, smirking at his reaction. "Why does it say Girl #13?" I ask him. "Who's Girl #1 and #2?"

"They're just someone I know," he says, avoiding eye contact, as he continues to look through his phone.

"Oh," I say, nodding my head as if I understand. "So basically they're your side chicks."

Nathan glances at me, and surprisingly he has a smirk on his face. "Yeah, they are. But you're my main chick, Minnie Mouse."

I feel my face heat up, but I ignore it. "Shut up," I say to him, lightly hitting his arm.

He lets out a small laugh, as he put his phone away into his pocket.

~

Gemma parks near Jasmine's house, and we all exit her car and make our way to the front door of the house. Once we step inside, we're immediately greeted by loud music.

The house seems completely dark, but everyone has their phones out, lighting up the place.

I watch Gemma merge into the crowd of people, heading toward the dance floor.

"Oh, Opal," Bella says, tapping my shoulder. "I see some of the girls from my track team. I'll be right back." And she disappears into the crowd.

I turn to the boys. "Can I follow you guys?" I ask.

"Of course you can, red," Will says, reminding me that he also has a nickname for me. "You're our girl."

He wraps an arm around my shoulder. Nathan walks beside me, and Kyle is in front of us. We make our way over to a table filled with food.

I few minutes later, the music changes, and everyone starts getting hyped as fuck.

Before I knew it, Will's arm leaves my shoulders, Kyle disappears into thin air, and Nathan follows Will to wherever he went.

I don't really give a fuck, though. I grab a few chips and put them in a cup, and walk around the crowded room. I talk to a few people who are in my classes, when I spot someone I know against the wall.

And it's Will, making out with Denise Bronson. Heather's older sister.

Well then, have fun..

I start looking for Bella, so that I'm not alone anymore. I search through the crowd, when I feel someone grab my wrist and pull me towards them.

There's enough light to see who the person is. "Hey Opal," he says to me.

My eyes widen. "What the fuck, Vince. Let go," I say, struggling to free myself from his grasp.

"You look really pretty, tonight," he says, pulling me closer.

"And you look like shit," I tell him. "Now let go of me."

Before Vince can respond, a fist lands on his jaw. He immediately let's go of my wrist, and someone wraps me in a hug. I watch as, whoever punched Vince, continues beating him up.

I look up, and the arms that are wrapped around me are Kyle's. My eyes widen as I look back at the guy landing punches on Vince.

"Kyle, is that Nathan?" I ask.

"Yea," he replies.

"Shouldn't you help?"

I hear him let out a laugh. "I am helping."

Kyle gently holds my wrist. "By the way, are you okay? Did he hurt you?"

"I'm good," I reply.

♠️ Nathan's POV ♠️ (before he began punching Vince)

I lean against the wall, as some brunette tells me a story.

"And then I found her kissing him in my bedroom. So now, I keep pepper spray in my room to keep the fake bitches away," she says proudly. "But it's gonna be kinda hard since she's my sister."

"Good for you?" I tell her, scratching the back of my head. How did I even start talking to her? I don't even know her name..

"I gotta use the bathroom," I say, walking away.

"Okay, but come back quickly," she calls out. No, thank you.

I find Kyle on his phone. "Hey, where's Opal?" I ask him.

He looks up at me and shrugs his shoulders. But I see her, struggling to free herself from Vince.

"Kyle," I say, "when I punch him, keep Opal safe and make sure she's fine."

"Nate what the fuck are you-" but he stops when he sees what I'm seeing, too. "Got it," he says.

I walk over and immediately land a punch on his jaw.

~

"You're insane, you know that?" Opal says to me, holding a cold bag of string beans to my cheek.

"Insane about you," I joke.

She smiles and quickly looks away.

Kyle, Opal and I are in the guest bedroom, the only room in this house with actual lights on. Will, Bella, and Gemma are probably still downstairs.

"I'm gonna use the bathroom real quick," Kyle says, leaving the room.

"Thank you," she says quietly. We're both sitting on a bed, as she holds the bag of string beans to my face.

"Anything for you, Minnie Mouse," I tell her, looking into her eyes.

She removes the bag for a moment to see how the bruise on my cheek is. She let's out a sigh. "It's literally purple now," she tells me. "He hit you pretty hard."

"I hit him harder than he did," I scoff.

Will bursts into the room. "Nate, you good?"

I look up at him. "Yea, I'm good. Where were you?"

"Talking with some friends," he replies breathlessly. He notices the cold bag covering my face.

"What happened?" He asks, walking over so he could look closely.

"He decided to play the hero and ended up getting a bruise to the face," Opal replies for me. She removes the bag from my face. "I think you're okay now," she says, standing up. "I'll put this back downstairs."

Will and I watch her leave the room. Once she exits the door, he quickly faces me. "So, you're pretty close to Opal now, huh?" He says, putting his hands in his pockets and sitting beside me.

"I guess so," I reply.

Kyle and Opal walk into the room. "Has anyone seen Bella?" Opal asks.

Will scratches the back of his neck. "Last time I saw her was in the- uh the kitchen," he replies.

I glance at him and notice a slight shade of red on his cheeks that anyone could barely notice. Anyone but me.

"Thanks, Will," Opal says, leaving the room.

End of ♠️Nathan's POV♠️

~

I head downstairs to search for my best friend in the kitchen. "Bella?" I call out over the loud music.

I continue looking until I spot her, sitting on top of the kitchen counter with a cookie in her hand. And she's crying.

I make my way over. "What the hell are you doing?" I ask her.

"Eating a damn cookie," She replies, tears still rolling down her face. "What does it look like I'm doing?"

I let out a sigh. "What happened?"

She stays quiet, nibbling the cookie in her hand.

"You're not gonna tell me?"

She shakes her head and wipes some of her tears.

"Fine with me," I say. "Now, c'mon. Let's go upstairs."

We both make our way up the stairs and enter the room where the guys are.

"I found her," I claim, as we step inside the room.

But as I tug at Bella's arm to follow me, she wouldn't budge. I look at her and realize she's staring at Will, a hint of hurt in her eyes. Well damn, what happened here?

"Actually Opal," Bella says. "I want to go back downstairs. I'll just hang out with Gemma or something." And she quickly turns around and makes her way down the stairs.

Will stands up. "Bella wait," he calls out, as he follows her out the room.

With a confused look, I turn back to face Nathan. He shrugs his shoulders at me.

I make my way over and sit beside him on the bed. Kyle is standing against the wall, looking at his phone.

"You feel better?" I ask Nathan, staring at the bruise on his cheek.

"Yea, I'm okay," he replies, running his hair through his fingers.

I let out a sigh. "Can I show you something?" I ask.

He looks at me with curiosity. "What do you wanna show me?"

I stand up. "C'mon, follow me," I tell him.

We're about to exit the room, when I turn to Kyle. "You wanna come?"

He looks up at me. "Nah, I'm good. I'll just stay up here."

I lead Nathan down the stairs and to the back door of the house. I open it, noticing some people are outside, too. Some are even swimming in the pool with their clothes on.

I walk over to the stairs that lead up to the deck. No one really goes up here. I hear Nathan's footsteps behind me.

I turn around to Nathan. His eyes look around at the area. There's some chairs so you could relax and stare at the sky. It also is a nice view to stare down at the people below that are swimming in the pool.

"Jasmine has been having parties at her house since freshmen year, and I usually come here with Gemma when it gets too loud inside," I explain to him, in attempt to break the silence between us.

He finally looks at me. "It's amazing," he says.

I give him a smile. "C'mon," I say, walking over to the chairs and taking a seat. He takes a seat beside me.

I look up at the sky. "When I was little, I used to think that the night sky was a person whenever they're sad. So I would sing to the sky every night before I went to sleep, and when I wake up, it's bright and happy again," I say with a smile, remembering the times I would sing Twinkle Twinkle by my window.

I turn to him, and even though it's dark as hell out here, I notice a smile on his face as he stares at me.

"What made you stop?" He asks.

I turn back to the sky, letting out a sigh. "I stopped singing the night my mom and dad started fighting."

We keep quiet until he broke the silence: "I got skittles."

I let out a small laugh. "I'm so happy for you."

Even in the dark night, the soft glow from the moon reveals the smile on his face. "You want some, Minnie Mouse?" He asks me.

"Sure," I reply.

I hear him open the wrapper of skittles and he gives me a few. After a while, I hear him stand up from his chair. "Come with me," he says.

"Why?" I ask standing up. He doesn't respond and takes my hand. I feel my heartbeats quicken, but I keep telling myself to calm down. We walk down the stairs, making our way down to the pool and backyard.

I watch him take off his shoes, including his socks.

"What are you doing?" I ask him, as I watch him place his shoes a few feet away from the pool. I take off my coat.

He finally turns to me. "Take your heels off," he tells me.

"Excuse me?"

"Do you want to get them wet or not?" He asks, giving me a sly smile.

My eyes widen. "I'm not swimming in a pool tonight," I tell him firmly. But he just gives me smirk and quickly picks me up bridal style.

"Nathan, I'm being serious," I tell him. "Put me down."

He just ignores me and manages to get my heels off and put them to the side.

And then he throws me in the pool.

I let out a scream as I hit the cold water. I quickly swim to the surface in time to see Nathan jump in with me. Since it's pretty dark, I can barely see where he is in the water. I start looking around in the pool, calling out his name.

Two hands gently grab my shoulders, making me turn around. I find myself staring at green eyes, twinkling in the soft moonlight. Nathan smiles. "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you look tonight?" He asks softly.

My breath hitches to a stop, and I feel my face heating up.

The closeness between us made me realize that everyone that was outside a few moments ago are now mostly inside, where the party is still going strong as hell. So basically it's just us and one or two other people outside.

I'm speechless as my eyes begin to wander on Nathan's face, but a sudden awkward feeling makes me look down at the water.

"Hey," he says softly, lifting my face up to look at him. We're both breathing heavily from shivering in the water.

I watch as his eyes search my face, until his gaze slowly lands on my trembling lips.

His face moves closer to mine, and I can't fucking breathe.

So to make it all perfect, I sneeze. Thankfully, not in his face, but I literally cringe at myself for ruining the moment. I couldn't help it, I actually had to sneeze.

"Shit, sorry," I say quickly.

He just gives me a smile, letting go of my shoulders. "It- it's fine. You okay?" He asks, feeling my forehead. "I hope I didn't get you sick."

I sneeze again. "Oh god, I think I am."

We both get out of the pool, our wet clothes sticking onto our skin. "My mom is gonna be so pissed," I mumble, shivering next to Nathan.

He let's out a short laugh. "Mine too."

I look at him and raise an eyebrow. "It's your fault, though. You threw me in the pool."

He smirks at me. "But you liked it Minnie Mouse."

Yea, I think I did.
