Chapter 10: Chapter 10~ You’re my mate,yeah ?

Blake’s POV~

It felt like I just laid down.. it’s been a crazy day. Cynthia has been banished to her parents house. No longer allowed at the pack house. She is not to address me by anything but my title.. and she pitched a fit! A full blown tantrum…breaking and throwing shit.. Cody had to restrain her and I ordered her parents to get her crazy ass into therapy!

I wake Cody and Damon..alerting them to the intruder and we haul ass to the river. Within minutes we are approaching..I smell honey and cinnamon…I also smell…blood. Blood? Athos has gone apeshit and leapt into warp speed and he’s not listening to me in his anger. We rush into the clearing and I see her! A magnificent white wolf…blood pouring from her side, staining the fur red..and her right leg twisted at a difficult angle.

Cody has shifted..wearing shorts and holding a pair for me. I immediately shift and step straight to Andrew…punching him in the mouth. Reaching up into a hollow in the tree above my head, I pull down a shirt and another pair of shorts. Throwing them at Andrew, “Get fucking covered!” Turning to Alexis, I say softly “Can you shift? I need to see your wounds” I am livid!

“Who gave the order to attack? Why would you attack her? Does she smell rogue to you? She’s a lone wolf and has permission to run my land! Who decided to ATTACK her?”

Andrew replied “I attacked, Alpha. In defense. She attacked first” and Alexis stepped from behind a tree…the shirt already soaked with her blood and softly said “Liar..I defended myself. You made first contact!” And passed out. I caught her in my arms…and sparks exploded all through my body. FUCK! “Cody…take Andrew to my office…then meet me in the infirmary! And every last one of you had better pray your Luna is not seriously injured!” Everyone gasped and I ran…like my life depended on it! My mate! My beautiful mate has come to harm, on my territory! Where she was assured safety!

Reaching the infirmary, I raced through the doors yelling get Helena here now! And within minutes, she was stepping through the door “What the fuck happened, Blake?! She is supposed to be safe here!” I said “I don’t know.. I don’t know!! But I will find out. Please Helena…heal her. She’s my mate! I need her!” She nods and steps over to the gurney. Lifting the shirt, there is four long, deep gashes down her side..I can see ribs! Helena said “Walk it off, Blake! She will be fine! Go find out what the fuck happened! How did your orders break down like this!?”

I haul ass out of the infirmary and within seconds, I am slamming my office door open. “Report! Now! What the fuck happened!? This is not what we do!” Andrew cleared his throat and began “Casey and I were patrolling the western border, when we caught a scent of an intruder. We followed it to the river, and I was the first to encounter the ro…intruder. I growled to submit the wolf and she dropped into a defensive stance…expecting impending attack, I lunged and she dodged.. I swiped out with my left paw, as she dodged and caught skin. She stayed in attack stance and I lunged again, catching her paw. I shifted and demanded she submit and shift. She refused..so I notified you.”

Athos is clawing to get out and kill this dumbass! All he knows is to protect and defend his mate…I have to consider all options. Even though, I am struggling not to rip the bastard’s throat out, too. “Do you all agree with this account?” Casey replied “none of us saw the altercation, Alpha…only the attempted submission “ My head jerked up “What? Why? Tell me, Andrew…why would you go into a potentially dangerous situation alone?”

He shifted in his chair “It wasn’t like that, Alpha. I knew it was only one wolf.. and I knew I was capable of subduing it. Otherwise, I would have waited for backup” I link Cody 🐺 Something isn’t making sense! Have we had issue with Andrew being aggressive before? Look into everything about him …. Cody nods and steps from the room.

“I have to ask, Andrew…because this isn’t quite making sense in my head…. You had to have known she wasn’t rogue! She has a very slight scent of pack, since she is granted lone wolf status… You also had to have known she is female when you saw her fur. White wolves are only ever female! You are all dismissed! Once Cody’s investigation is done, we will discuss this matter again!”

Walking back into the infirmary I ask where Alexis is and was told Helena took her home. I ran back to my bedroom, grabbing a quick shower I threw on a black pair of jeans and a Henley, stepping into running shoes, I jumped into my truck and was at Helena’s within minutes. I knocked and Max opened the door, inviting me in.

He led me to the living room.. and there sat my gorgeous mate…ironically, in the cutest little bunny pajamas I have ever seen…I smiled “You seem to have a thing for bunnies” and she giggled! Like music..she giggled “Apparently, big fuzzy pink bunnies “ and I laughed!

Helena handed me a whiskey…and I noticed Alexis was sipping on one, as well! My mate likes good liquor! I sat beside her “Can you tell me what happened? Athos is struggling not to kill one of my best warriors and I am trying to understand “ She turned to me and I noticed her wrist was wrapped as she winced a little “I don’t really know. Arielle and I had been playing in the waterfall and swam to the bank.. we were relaxing, splashing in the waves lapping the edge when we heard a branch snap.. she turned to the sound, to see a large gray wolf step into the moonlight from the wood line. He crouched, growling and prepared to lunge at us. She dropped to a defensive stance and growled back. His first lunge, we twisted and dodged. I didn’t want to attack one of your pack. We turned to face him again, when he attacked with his claws..piercing our side and I stumbled. I backed away to the trees and he lunged again…catching our paw and snapping it. Arielle whimpered and backed us against the tree. He shifted and demanded we shift. I was Not going to be naked in front of some strange guy…then the others surrounded me and he shouted at me to shift. Still ain’t gonna do it. Then you showed up. You’re my mate yeah?”

I grinned and nodded “I am. I never thought I would want my mate. I blamed the mate bond for my father’s death. I have realized lately that was a completely unrealistic way of thinking. I want you! I need you to be my mate! I will never leave you and I certainly will never allow you to leave me. I, Blake Sterling, Alpha of Sterling Moon, accept you..Alexis Morris, as my mate!”
