Episode 10: The First Steps of the Bond
(Briarâs POV)
The weight of the world felt both heavy and light at the same time. Briar couldnât explain it, but she knew she was standing at the precipice of something that would change her life forever. She had met Olivia, the Alpha, the one who was meant to be her mate. But now, things felt real, tangible, and she wasnât sure if she was ready for all that it entailed.
The night air was crisp as Briar sat on the edge of her bed, her fingers nervously playing with the edge of her blanket. Her mind kept replaying the moment she had met Oliviaâhow her heart had raced, how her chest had tightened with that overwhelming sense of belonging.
"Iâm yours," Briar had said, but even then, she hadnât fully understood the weight of those words.
Her parents had been kind, patient with her as she processed everything they had revealed, but now it was all so real. Werewolf. Mate. Alpha. Her mind spun with the new realities she was facing, each one more daunting than the last. Briar wanted to be strong, wanted to understand what was happening to her, but she still felt so lost.
Her phone buzzed on the nightstand, pulling her from her thoughts. Briar grabbed it quickly, hoping it was Tara or Ethan, someone who could explain this madness to her. But it wasnât. It was a message from Olivia.
Olivia: âI know things are overwhelming, Briar. But I need to see you. I need you to understand what this bond means for both of us. Can you meet me?â
Briarâs heart skipped a beat. She hadnât expected Olivia to reach out so soon, but something deep inside her told her that this was right. She needed to see Olivia, needed to feel her presence again. She typed a quick reply.
Briar: âIâll be there. Where?â
Olivia: âThe clearing near the woods. Iâll be waiting for you.â

Briarâs feet moved on their own as she made her way through the darkened streets, the familiar path leading her toward the woods. She didnât know what to expect, but she knew she had to face this. Olivia had been patient with her, and Briar knew it was time for her to do the same.
When she arrived, she saw Olivia standing in the clearing, bathed in the soft light of the moon. The sight of herâher presenceâmade Briarâs heart thud painfully in her chest. There was something about Olivia that made her feel safe, but also something that made her want to run.
"Briar." Oliviaâs voice was soft, yet commanding, as though she had been waiting for this moment for far longer than Briar realized.
Briar took a hesitant step forward. "Olivia, I donât know if Iâm ready for all this."
Olivia smiled, the warmth of it settling in Briarâs chest. "You donât need to be ready, Briar. Youâve already taken the first step just by being here."
Briar swallowed, trying to steady her racing pulse. "But what if I donât understand all of this? What if I canât be what you need me to be?"
Olivia stepped closer, her eyes filled with understanding. "Briar, you donât need to be anything youâre not. I donât need you to be perfect. I need you to be you. Thatâs all that matters."
The tenderness in Oliviaâs words touched something deep inside Briar. She had never had anyone speak to her like that beforeâlike she was enough, just as she was. Briar felt the knot in her stomach begin to loosen, but she was still scared. Scared of the unknown, scared of what she couldnât control.
"I donât know if I can handle this, Olivia. All of this. The bond, the pack... everything." Briarâs voice wavered, and for the first time, she let herself feel vulnerable.
Olivia gently cupped her face, her touch sending a jolt through Briarâs body. "You donât have to do this alone. Youâll never have to do this alone. Weâre in this together, Briar. This bondâitâs not just a connection between us, itâs something bigger. Itâs about trust, about growth. Iâll help you every step of the way."
Briar closed her eyes, letting Oliviaâs words wash over her. She didnât know what the future held, but in this moment, with Oliviaâs hand on her face and the bond between them pulling her closer, she felt as though she could face anything.
"How do we even start?" Briar asked, her voice quiet but determined.
Oliviaâs lips curved into a gentle smile. "We start by trusting each other. And then, we learn about this bond. It will take time, but Iâll be with you every step of the way."

(Oliviaâs POV)
Olivia could feel the pull between them, just as she had when she first sensed Briarâs presence. It was stronger now, undeniable. She watched Briar as she stood there, uncertain yet brave. It amazed her how quickly Briar had adapted to everything, despite her fears. She was so much like Olivia had been when she first came into her own power. But Briar was different tooâthere was a spark in her that Olivia knew would ignite into something beautiful. Something powerful.
She reached out, her fingers brushing Briarâs arm gently. "Itâs okay to be afraid. Itâs okay to not have all the answers right now. But weâll get through this. Together."
Briarâs eyes flickered with something close to hope. "Together."
Olivia nodded, feeling the bond between them grow stronger with every word. It was more than just an attraction; it was a promise. A promise to protect, to guide, and to love. The pull between them had always been there, but now that they were face-to-face, Olivia realized how deep it ran.
As Briar leaned in closer, her breath warm on Oliviaâs skin, Olivia knew one thing for certain: their journey had only just begun, but it would be a journey theyâd walk together.
