Chapter 83: Chapter 83

A Mouth Full of Blood.Words: 7886

The blood drained from Vinny's face as he continued to stare through the window.

"Vinny? Are you still there?" Duke asked. He was very shaken up.

Vinny cleared his throat. He was having a hard time snapping back to reality.

"Yes," He said and Duke could tell this would be really hard for him to tell Oliver.

"We're at the hospital now, John has been rushed off somewhere," Duke said, but let another sad sigh escape. "Vinny, I don't know if he's going to make it"

Oliver looked up when he felt Vinny's overwhelming emotions.

Vinny saw that he was watching him and knew here was not the place to tell him.

"We're on our way," He said and without waiting for a reply, he hung up.

Oliver watched as Vinny walked into the shop and over to Jed. He whispered something into the bodyguards ear, which changed Jed's expression.

He then watched as Vinny masked his true emotions and tried putting on a brave one, to face his soulmate with.

"Oliver, we need to go," Vinny said as he took his hand and pulled him quickly towards the door.

"What's going on? Why are you feeling like that?" He could feel stress and worry coming from Vinny, which was highly unusual. "Is my dad okay?"

The way that Vinny glanced at him made his mind burst with dread.

Vinny didn't say anything as they walked quickly through town and back to the car.

Jed knew they had to get to the hospital, and fast.

Just before Vinny reached for the door handle, Oliver pulled him around.

"What is going on?" He asked.

Vinny found it hard to look him in the eye. He was about to tell him something that will cause a lot of pain and sorrow to swamp his chest. But he had to know.

With a deep breath, he took hold of his hands.

"It's your dad," He said before looking up and connecting their gaze. "He had a heart attack"

The expression on Oliver's face dropped as the noises around him were sucked from his ears. All he could hear was the hard thumping of his heart, echoing through his mind.

"What" He whispered. His words were barely audible, but Vinny could hear him. "Is he going to be okay?"

Vinny inspected his face as he felt regret wash through him, but he had to tell his soulmate the truth.

"I don't know"

That's when Oliver covered his mouth with his hand and tried blinking back his tears.

"Oh god" He whispered, but people around them were starting to notice that something was wrong.

"Let's go," Jed said, making Vinny enter back into his surroundings.

Vinny then opened the door as Oliver subconsciously got in. He walked around the other side and also climbed in.

He watched as Oliver tried putting on his seatbelt, his hands were shaking.

Jed watched them both in the mirror and waited until they were buckled up before speeding off down the street.

Vinny stared at Oliver as he could see he was getting lost in a stack of negative thoughts. He could tell he was thinking the worst case scenarios and in this situation, it would only help if he stayed positive.

Oliver's mind was racing. He was trying his hardest to stay calm, but his dad has just had a heart attack, and nobody knows if he's going to be okay.

He was freaking out. He couldn't lose his dad.

He just couldn't.

Vinny watched as Oliver twiddled his thumbs and tapped his feet. He was staring out the window with panicked eyes.

Vinny didn't know what to say, he was worried he'd say the wrong thing.

They weren't that far from the hospital as Jed ignored the rules of the road and concentrated on getting there as fast as he could.

"Vinny, what if he's not okay?" Oliver then asked as he turned to face him. The sight of his soulmate helped to calm his mind. But it didn't help that Vinny looked a little troubled too.

"Then we'll get through it. But don't think like that" He said softly as he gently rested a hand on Oliver's cheek. "Stay strong for him"

Oliver nodded as the way Vinny's eyes softened and filled with love, warmed his heart and somehow gave him a little bit of strength.

"We're here," Jed said as the car suddenly came to a stop.

Without wasting time, Vinny opened the door. News reporters immediately started shoving microphones in his face, but Jed pushed them out of the way so Oliver could get out too.

Vinny put his arm around Oliver as they pushed their way through the paparazzi.

He was angry.

Do they have no compassion?

Oliver's father just had a heart attack and they are still stopping him from walking.

Vinny's short temper then got the better of him when a guy asked Oliver if his dad was going to die.

He reached out and grabbed his collar.

"You ask that again and I'll break your neck" He growled before pushing him back and letting him trip over the curb.

The rest of the reporters seemed to back off as the boys made their way through the doors and into the hospital.

It was extremely chaotic. People were everywhere, trying to talk to him and taking pictures. Do they not realise that this is a very tough thing for Oliver to cope with, especially when people are asking delicate questions.

"This way," Jed said as he guided the boys to a doctor who was shouting for the Master.

"Follow me," The man said as he led the boys through automatic double doors. Thank goodness the paparazzi were not allowed past this point.

The noise instantly died down as they all walked quickly down the white halls.

Oliver could barely even think. All he wanted was to see his dad, but was that even possible?

Vinny took his hand and squeezed it tight. He could feel his misery, heartache and pain.

After heading down three more corridors and up a flight of stairs, Duke and Madison came into view. They were sitting patiently on some seats.

Duke tapped his wife's knee when he spotted the boys. Oliver looked sick with worry.

They both stood up as the doctor politely continued down the corridor, leaving the Vanderwood's and Oliver by themselves. He was going to find out if there was any news.

"Oh love," Madison said as she pulled Oliver into a tight hug.

He was beginning to feel numb.

Duke watched Vinny, who never let his eyes leave Oliver.

"Where is he?" Oliver asked as he pulled back.

"The doctors are looking after him," Madison said with a reassuring smile. But she was dodging the question. Nobody knew if he was going to make it or not.

"How did this happen?" He asked as Duke took a step forward and rested a hand on his shoulder.

"Everything started off fine, he was coping well," Duke said. "but on the final stages, he just collapsed"

Oliver let a distressed sigh leave his lips. he didn't want to think about that.

"Why can't I see him?" He asked as he gripped onto Vinny's shirt sleeve, he felt a sudden need to feel his touch.

"He's too ill at the moment, but when he's stable and on the mend, I'm sure we can see him"

Oliver nodded, but he knew they had no idea if they would see him alive again or not.

"Let's take a seat," Vinny said as he gently guided Oliver over and sat him down.

He watched as the tears started building up in his eyes. Oliver was trying so hard to stay strong, but he couldn't do it anymore.

Vinny saw the despair taking over his face as the water spilt over his eyes and trickled down his cheek.

Oliver's eyebrows furrowed as he then covered his face with the palm of his hands and began to cry.

Vinny's heart felt like it had been dropped into a puddle of sorrow as he wrapped his arms around his broken soulmate.

Oliver buried his head into the side of Vinny's neck and tried muffling his sobs, but he was extremely upset.

Vinny stared at the ground and rubbed his back. He could barely hold himself together at the sound of Oliver's cries. There was nothing more distressing.

Duke and Madison watched with helpless eyes. They could see how hurt Vinny was at Oliver's sadness. The poor boy can't lose his father.

If the worst was to happen, he'll still have the Vanderwood's to help pick up the pieces.

Their biggest wish was to fix John's heart, but they're Vampires, not angels.
