The boys pedaled hard, their bikes slicing through the crisp morning air as they raced their friends to the park. Laughter and shouts echoed between them, the simple thrill of the ride filling them with excitement. Jake and Alex, now officially brothers, felt freer than they had in weeks, the weight of moving and changes momentarily forgotten.

As they arrived, they skidded to a stop near the bike racks. The park was already bustling with activity—kids playing basketball, others hanging out near the swings, and a few running around the open fields. Their group made their way toward their usual hangout spot under the big oak tree.

One of their friends, Tyler, plopped onto the grass. "Man, that ride was brutal. Are you guys still getting settled in?"

Alex nodded, stretching his arms. "Yeah, they’re moving my stuff in today. Mrs. Faulkner told us to stay out of the way."

"Lucky you," another friend, Jordan, said. "I’d kill for an excuse to skip moving day."

Jake chuckled. "Yeah, but it means we gotta find something to do all day."

"How about a game of HORSE?" Tyler suggested, nodding toward the court.

Alex smirked. "You guys ready to lose?"

They grabbed a basketball and started the game. Shot after shot, they competed, trying to force each other into getting letters. Alex, with his precise aim, won the game without getting a single letter. Jake earned an "H-O," Tyler struggled with "H-O-R-S," and Jordan took the full "H-O-R-S-E," making Alex the undisputed champion of the warm-up round.

"Okay, okay," Jordan laughed, shaking his head. "You got us. But let’s see how you do in a real game."

They split into teams—Jake and Alex versus Tyler and Jordan—and kicked off a full-court match. The game was intense, sweat dripping down their faces as they fought for every point. Jake and Alex played fiercely, their teamwork seamless. They dodged, passed, and shot with precision, their opponents struggling to keep up.

As the final minutes ticked down, Alex made an impressive jump shot, followed by a slam dunk that left everyone in shock. The final score is 30 to 12. Jake and Alex had dominated the game.

"Dude, that was insane!" Tyler said, shaking his head in disbelief.

Alex grinned, still catching his breath. "Told you guys."

Tyler smirked and pulled out his wallet. "Alright, you guys earned the ice cream. Let’s go."

Meanwhile, back at the house, the movers worked efficiently. Mrs. Faulkner directed them as they arranged the boys’ room, ensuring everything fit just right. Alex’s bed was set up next to Jake’s, his gaming setup neatly placed beside Jake’s. The space, once just Jake’s, now felt balanced, a true shared room.

One of the movers wiped his brow. "That should do it, ma’am. Everything’s in place."

Mrs. Faulkner smiled, surveying the work. "Perfect. Thank you all so much."

As the movers packed up, she sent a text to Jake. Everything’s ready. Come home when you’re done.

Back at the park, the boys wrapped up their game and were catching their breath. Jake checked his phone and grinned. "Mom says the movers are done."

Alex exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Guess that means we should head back soon."

"One more game?" Tyler asked hopefully.

Jake and Alex exchanged a glance before Jake smirked. "Make it quick. And losers buy ice cream."

Laughing, they jumped back into the game, determined to make the most of the day before heading back to their newly shared home.
