Iâve got things to do today, letâs mock those idiots another day.
Editing the post, âNew Song: Stubborn, releasing today at 18:00.â Once done, he clicked send, and instantly, there were more than a dozen likes.
He had planned to log out, considering the mess of people on Weibo, and spending time on it seemed like a waste of life. But seeing a surge in comments on the post made him curious.
It wasnât until he went back to check his number of followers that he had a sudden realization. He hadnât paid attention before, but perhaps it was the merit of âFragrance of Riceâ and âBlue and White Porcelain.â
The number of followers had risen from a fake one million to five million, which was truly beyond his expectations. He didnât know how many of them were haters, maybe a third?
âAwesome, a new song is out!â
âDamn, this account is actually real?â@@novelbin@@
âYou remember to come back?â
He glanced through a few comments without responding and logged off. By the afternoon, as he was immersed in writing a script in his office, Pei Muchan suddenly came back.
âYour new song is ready?â
âYeah, whatâs up?â he looked up.
âNothing, I saw the Weibo post you made.â She lifted her phone and glanced at it, her tone hesitant, âYou should take a look for yourself.â
Xu Qingyan took her phone and saw a post by a producer named âYue Jialin.â The producer had purposefully mentioned his Weibo account, Xuâs Epoch.
The person didnât beat around the bush and launched straight into a tirade against his post, nitpicking at the song title. After picking on that, they began to dredge up the past, critiquing Xu Qingyan in a way that suggested revealing insider secrets.
Xu Qingyan was dumbfounded and turned to look at Pei Muchan.
âWho the hell is this person?â
âHeâs the director of âI am the King of Songsâ and a producer for a small company,â Pei Muchan explained, âHeâs got a little star whoâs gotten quite popular recently.â
âUh, and then?â he inquired.
âThat little star is releasing an album today, probably just targeting you,â Pei Muchan said, âItâs a common tactic, stir up a conflict then let the fans eat it up.â
âWhat, this is piggybacking?â Xu Qingyan was stupefied, and he opened the page of that person to take a closer look.
Sure enough, it was a producer from some entertainment company; he had just popped up in the morning, and by the afternoon this person was already coming at him full force, using him as a hypothetical enemy.
The correct approach was to ignore it, not giving the other party any chance to generate discussion. After all, heâd been involved backstage at the Spring Festival Gala; naturally, he couldnât stoop to the level of ordinary folk.
But Xu Qingyan wasnât one to play by the rules, his previous low profile had been to secure a chance to gild his reputation with the Spring Festival Gala. Now that it was over, he had connections.
Even a clay Buddha has three points of anger, let alone someone with Xu Qingyanâs temper. If he let a small-time producer trample over him, his past half-year efforts would have been for nothing.
âAlright, I got it,â Xu Qingyan looked up at Pei Muchan with a smile, âDonât worry, Iâll handle it properly.â
âHow do you plan to deal with it?â Pei Muchan wouldnât be at ease, not by a long shot.
He chuckled, âYell right back at them, obliterate that asshole!â
Ten minutes later, âXuâs Epochâ posted again, this time directly calling out that producer, his reply sharp and cutting.
âAnnoying, just minding my business walking down the street and I get bitten by a dog. This dog doesnât even have a tag, comes at me barking madly; anyone would think itâs trying to find a new master everywhere!â
âFor the sake of stirring up conflict, youâre really using your small brain instead of your big one, a nobody. Donât think I wonât respond to you, you bottom-feeder.â
âBlabbering insider âexposuresâ every day, yapping away like itâs the seventh day of a ghostâs passing.â
The 200-word post went live, confronting the issue head-on, and was pushed up nearly the instant it was sent out. This time, Xu Qingyan didnât log off.
He wasnât a celebrity, he didnât need to care about his image. When someone else was being unreasonable, he had all the more reason to fight back. Seeing that crazy personâs post, he felt like hunting them down himself.
Truly an undeserved misfortune; he hadnât offended anyone, yet he was being treated like a pushover. The comments soared rapidly, surpassing five hundred in less than half an hour.
And as the time reached 18:00, âStubbornâ was released right on schedule, unaffected by the controversy.
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
At XX Entertainment Company, Yue Jialin was in front of his computer, watching a new female streamer from his company. He couldnât help revealing a smile at her inexperienced university-student look.
Suddenly, a junior artist knocked and walked in.
âBrother Yue, trouble, the post you made this afternoon got blasted by the real deal.â
At those words, Yue Jialin dismissed it nonchalantly with a wave of his hand.
âNo worries, I expected as much. Donât fret about it, heâll be backlash by public opinion.â
