Outside of the ward, Eudora told Amos about the situation that had just occurred.
âNaomi has fallen head over heels for him. I donât know how to persuade her. I think we should let her slowly calm down first!â
Amos furrowed his brow and said, âOkay!â
Soon after, he reached out to hold Eudora, âWhen you came out of the house just now, you were wearing very thin clothes. Itâs raining and cold outside, so Iâll take you home!â
Eudora glanced in the direction of the ward and asked, âWhat about Naomi?â
âLet her cool off. Iâm afraid weâll end up in an awkward situation if we force her to leave now.â
Eudora nodded her agreement, âAlright then!â
In the evening, Amos called Clint again after Eudora fell asleep.
âGo and investigate secretly what happened in the car accident.â
Clint said, âYou also think it was too coincidental, donât you? However, it indeed happened by chance!â
âWhat do you mean?â Amos was suspicious.
âIâve already investigated the matter after your call this afternoon, including the driver who collided with him. There was nothing amiss with him at all. The accident was an utmost coincidence!â
Amos thought the results were dubious, therefore he asked again, âIs it really a coincidence?â
âPerhaps, this time, it really is!â
â¦
In the hospital, after Naomi packed up everything, she asked the nurse to help her find a pen and a paper.
Then, she began to draw on that piece of paper.
When Nelson woke up, he saw that Naomi was almost done drawing, He asked out of curiosity, âWhat are you drawing?â
Naomi turned around and smiled, âShooting targets! When we were young, I told you that I would practise shooting in order to protect you. Do you still remember that? Iâm good at shooting now. When you get better, Iâll use this to show you how skillful I am!â
Nelson couldnât help but reminisce about the past upon hearing her words.
Back then, his mother had been taken away, and he had been detained with the Granger family. Everyone had reckoned that he was leading an enjoyable life in the Granger family. On the contrary, he had felt that being in the Granger family had brought him nothing but misery.
Harryâs family had merely been using him. They had let him and his mother enter the Granger family because they wanted to gain some benefits from them.
Later on, when the benefits were gone, they were naturally no longer nice to him.
Bethany had been rather nice to him, but in her heart, he was just a tool for venting her anger!
Whenever she was in a good mood, she would cuddle him and say that he was her dearest grandson.
Whenever she was in a bad mood, she would either beat or scold him. The situation worsened after Bethany found out that he was not her grandson.
Fortunately, in such a life, he still had Naomi!
At that time, she was still called Juju. Truth be told, she was neither as naïve as other children, nor as warm as sunshine, bringing warmth to people around her.
On the contrary, she had been an incredibly strong-willed little girl. It was probably because she had to protect Eudora ever since she was a child.
Upon seeing him getting bullied, Naomi would stand up for him. However, she would keep scolding him afterwards, reproving him for not protecting himself and crying.
As a result, he no longer dared to cry after being scolded by her.
In reality, he had been thinking of those words that she had uttered ever since they had parted with each other.
Nelson came back to his senses, wondering why he would become so soft-hearted as soon as he thought of his past.
He took a deep breath and suppressed all the thoughts in his heart.
After that, he replied, âSure!â
Naomi stared at him for a while before answering, âYou donât look too happy.â
Nelson shook his head and denied, âNo, Iâm just tired. I want to rest!â
âThen, just take a rest! Weâll talk when you feel better.â
Nelson nodded and laid down again. He said, âYou should go back too! There will be other people thatâll take care of me at night. You donât have to stay here!â
Naomi wanted to say that she was capable of staying back.
However, Nelson had already closed his eyes. Naomi stood by his bed for a while before she turned around and left.
It was not until she left that Nelson sat up again.
He felt a little annoyed for some reason. He took a glass of water and drank it. When he was about to put down the glass, the door was pushed open from outside.
Nelson called out in relief, âJuju?â
The person who had entered was stunned for a moment before whispering, âMr. Luther, itâs me.â
Richard stood at the doorway, motionless. He asked, âSo, should I come in, or go out?â
Nelson regained his composure and said calmly, âCome in!â
Only then did Richard come in with some things in his hands. He complained, âIâve been waiting outside for a few hours. If Miss George hadnât left, I would have gone back myself already! Luckily, sheâs finally gone! It looks like you two are making good progress in your relationship?â
Nelson frowned and said, âDonât be such a busybody! What do you need me for?â
Richard shook his head and said, âOf course, itâs about something important. You didnât inform me beforehand about your arrangement for todayâs act. I thought you really were going to die. You scared the wits out of me!â
Nelson replied coolly, âI didnât know that this would happen either.â
âWhat?â Richard looked at him disbelievingly.
Nelson leaned against the pillow and explained, âI saw a car going out of control at the last minute. All I did was tell the driver not to dodge it!â
Richard was filled with panic and cried, âYouâre crazy! Do you know that you couldâve almost lost your life?â
âSo what? Itâs not like Iâve never been on the edge of death before. People who have been so close to death will be more direct when doing things. Itâs either victory or death for us! If I donât have this kind of determination, how could I compete with someone like Amos?â
âIf Iâm not mistaken, he must have sent someone to investigate me immediately after the accident! If it was deliberately arranged by us, then we would be more miserable now!â
Richard had nothing to refute, thus he said, âMaybe youâre right. This also proves that youâre leading a charmed life!â
âThank you!â Nelson replied.
âWhat are you going to do in the future? Youâve already revealed your identity, so whatâs next?â
âWhatâs wrong with that? Now, I have an even bigger chance to get close to the Granger family! If I knew that that stupid woman still had feelings for me, I should have used this trick a long time ago!â
Richard raised his eyebrows and asked, âFeelings? To be honest, Iâm quite interested to know what will happen between you two lovebirds.â
Nelson rolled his eyes at him and said, âMaybe itâs not love, but just some kind of remorse. Thatâs enough for me! though As long as we can get close to the Granger family, we can leave here and go abroad to start a new life after I take revenge on them.â
Richard nodded and said, âOkay, letâs hope that weâll succeed as soon as possible! However, we should work on the premise that you must be on my side throughout the plan. Youâve been acting too capriciously recently, and I almost canât catch up to you! I hope that you can inform me in advance if there are any changes in our plans next time.â
âDonât always tell me to play it by the ear. Even if Iâm a genius, I might still make a mistake!, alright?â
Nelson shrugged and came to terms with Richardâs conditions, âFine, Iâll think about it!â
After that, the two of them looked at each other and laughed. Richard turned around and said, âIâm leaving. Shall I send you breakfast tomorrow? What would you like to eat?â
Nelson stayed silent Then, Richard spoke again, âOh, Iâve almost forgotten that you have a girlfriend to prepare breakfast for you now!â
âGet lost!â
