When Naomi arrived home, Amos and Eudora were still awake.
Seeing her enter the room, Cindy instantly came up to her and asked, âMiss Naomi, are you hungry? Iâll prepare dinner for you!â
Amos interrupted Cindy by saying, âYou donât have to prepare the dinner. Go and do some other work!â
Cindy pursed her lips, turned around and left.
Only then did Amos look at Naomi and say, âDonât you have anything to say to us?â
After much contemplation, Naomi walked over to Amos.
She said, âYes, maybe itâs time for me to have a good talk with you two!â
Truth be told, Naomi had always been open and straightforward in life, and she disliked beating around the bush. It was the first time for her to not be candid with her parents.
However, she had now chosen to be more straightforward with her parents and tell them how she felt.
She took a deep breath.
Naomi confessed, âMom, Dad, I like Nelson a lot. Please give me your blessing.â
Eudora closed her eyes. Although she knew that Naomi would make such a choice after coming back from the hospital, it still distressed her upon hearing it for herself.
âNaomi, are you sure you donât need to know more about him before you make this decision?â
âMom, I know him very well. After all, he used to be Vincent!â
âHowever, he has been away from Rosaville City for so many years. Are you sure that he is still the same as before?â
Naomi said with her lips pursed, âIâm not sure, but Mom, Iâm willing to trust him!â
Amos felt that there was no need to persuade her anymore since she was completely besotted with Nelson.
Amos held Eudoraâs hand and said, âYou are our daughter, and we are not those kind of stubborn parents. Since youâve said so, then weâll give you a chance to get along with him. However, you can only date him, but donât go beyond that just yet. As for other things, weâll decide those in the future!â
Although it was not an ideal result, it was acceptable for Naomi.
Naomi rejoiced at her parentsâ approval and thanked them instantly, âThank you, Mom and Dad!â
Naomi went upstairs Eudora slowly said, âHubby, why do I feel a little uneasy? Will something bad happen?â
Seeing her frown, Amos stretched his hand out to stroke her forehead.
âForget it. Whatâs done cannot be undone already. All we can do is to make sure she finds a sincere partner! Whatâs more, weâve experienced so many hardships together, and havenât we overcome them all in the end? Donât you believe in me?â
Eudora nodded in relief and said, âI believe in you! With you around, Iâll be reassured.â
Amos embraced her warmly and replied, âOkay!â
â¦
Naomi was so excited that she was unable to fall asleep after taking a bath.
She had really missed Nelson, so she took her phone out and wanted to call him. However, as soon as she dialed the number, she remembered that he was in the hospital.
At this time, he should be resting.
âForget it, Iâd better not disturb him,â she told herself.
Then, she put down her phone. Suddenly, something came to her mind and she got up to take out a box from the bottom of her closet.
She had kept this box for many years.
There were a lot of things inside that she used to play with during her childhood.
She reached the bottom of the box, took out a palm-sized teddy bear, and shook it in front of her.
â¦
Richard was right.
When Nelson woke up the next morning, Naomi had already brought breakfast with her.
âYour favorite sunny side up and hash browns!â
Naomi had once argued with Vincent about this matter when they were young. At that time, Vincent enjoyed eating sunny side up, while people in the Granger family mostly preferred omelets.
At first, both of them disliked each otherâs choices and failed to see eye-to-eye with each other.
Upon remembering that memory, Naomi couldnât help but laugh.
Nelson washed up before he took over the eggs and ate them. He just so happened to notice that Naomiâs plate also had the same eggs as his.
Nelson was puzzled and he asked, âDonât you like to eat omelettes?â
âHe still remembers that?â Naomi thought about it.
Naomi smiled and said, âItâs not bad to try different things for a change.â
Truth be told, she had begun to eat food that Vincent liked after he left. Back then, she had wanted to live a life on behalf of him since she thought he was already dead.
Therefore, she had tried to imitate his lifestyle in order to feel closer to him.
Just as she was deep in thought, Nelson stretched his hand out and lightly pressed her against the table.
âIt seems that you really like me.â
She was captivated at once, by his husky and masculine voice.
She remembered the time where he had always followed her and cried when they were children. Looking at the state she herself was in now, she could not help but feel a little embarrassed.
She was irked at the thought of that, hence she turned around and switched positions with Nelson.
However, because she was shorter than him, she had to stand on her tiptoes to press him down.
âItâs just that I like people younger than me!â
Nelson frowned and asked, âYounger?â
Naomi raised her eyebrows and said, âIsnât it so? When you were a child, you always followed behind me. Donât tell me youâve forgotten about that?â
It was not until she mentioned their childhood that he recalled the miserable memories during his childhood.
It turned him off immediately and he pushed her away. He said, âIâm a little tired!â
His reaction upset her. She blamed herself and thought that she must have accidentally knocked him when they were switching positions just now.
She hurriedly gave him her arm and supported him as she urged, âGo to the bed and rest!â
As she spoke, she took out the teddy bear she had brought with her.
âItâs a gift from you. Do you remember this? At that time, I was hurt and you gave it to me as a lucky charm. Later onwards, I really recovered! So, Iâll now give it to you and I hope that your illness will recover soon.â
Nelson gave a sardonic smile as he looked at the teddy bear.
Naomi noticed his shift in expression just in time and asked, âWhatâs wrong? What are you laughing at?â
He came back to his senses and replied, âNothing, I just feel that youâre acting differently from your usual self.â
Naomi blushed. After knowing Nelson, she seemed to act a little differently than before.
She seemed happier and more childish.
âForget it. Here you are. I have to go to work today, so Iâll take my leave first!â
After Naomi finished speaking, she stood up and walked out.
Nelson looked at the teddy bear in his hand. After a long time, he smirked and threw it into the dustbin.
On second thought, he picked it up again and put it on the table.
â¦
Nelson stayed in the hospital for four days. After he recovered, he was discharged.
Naomiâs previous project had also made some progress. Seeing that she was working so hard, Cynthiaâs attitude towards her had changed quite a bit.
Everything was going well. Naomi did some stretching after finishing her last project.
Her cell phone rang as a text message from Nelson arrived.
It read, âAre you free? Letâs have dinner tonight!â
Although she tried to remain composed, she still couldnât help but feel elated. This was the first time Nelson had invited her to dinner!
Would this be her first date?
If so, how should she prepare herself for it?
