What Hope said in the forest really had them thinking... Soulmates. That was insane but it was true. Lizzie had done more research on the existance of soulmates and apparently its kind of rare that Soulmates find eachother. But once they are in the same place, magic or not, they feel that tugging and it leads them to their destiny.
Knowing this now Lizzie was even more happy to have Rae, as she is a Heretic now and there are a bunch of new challenges, having that connection there with the human girl kept her grounded. Kept her, her.
They were hanging out all day since it was a Saturday there was no school. Alaric did make sure to warn her to be careful because Kai was still out there somewhere. Which Lizzie hadn't forgot. Of course she hasn't. The bastard murdered her AND turned her.
But she wouldn't let that ruin this day... As it was Rae's birthday. She turns 17 today. All she wanted, all she asked for was to spend it with Lizzie. So Lizzie intends to do just that.
They woke up at the Salvatore school thanks to movie night last night. Rae's friends at the school wished her a happy birthday, MG even gave her a cupcake, not sure when he made that. Hope offered to make her breakfast. But they declined since they wanted to have breakfast at the Grill.
So they left the school ready for the day.
As they at in the Grill eating the food they ordered, Lizzie smiled at Rae who seemed actually happy. She loved seeing her happy, since the words from what seemed like years ago were still in her mind : I don't see a future for me. She was so unhappy then but now she is. You can see it. In her eyes.
"Why are you staring at me?" Rae pointed out sounding amused.
Lizzie felt a bit embarrassed she was caught but hid it with a confident smile, "maybe I'm gazing."
"At what? I'm not attractive when I eat," Rae laughed.
"Shut up, you so are, you always are beautiful," Lizzie kicked her from under the table.
Rae blushed crimson red as she kicked her back, "you flirt."
"I'm your flirt," Lizzie winked.
"That was a lame come back."
The two just laughed.
After breakfast, they had walked to the park where a festival was going on actually.
They played some games and looked at all the stuff to buy. At that moment Lizzie wanted to get Rae a real present even though the dark blonde had begged her not to. Rae was getting a carameled apple as Lizzie was buying something special for her.
The merchant was wrapping it up for her like a present when she asked him to.
"Buying your girlfriend a present?" Lizzie froze at the voice, "awe how precious."
"Kai!" Lizzie turned to him immediately glaring at her relative, "I should just pull out your heart! You turned me!" The anger made some of the stuff around her shake.
"Careful, Lizzie, you don't want to have an episode on Rae's B-Day," Kai commented smirking.
"If I have an episode it'll be because of you!" Lizzie hissed veins growing under her eyes but when she realized she quickly looked down taking deep breaths as her mother told her to do.
Kai just snickered, laughing at her struggling, "you are going about this all wrong, with the new power you posess you don't have to answer anyone, have fun."
"Why? Why do you care? Why did you turn me?" Lizzie questioned feeling overwhelmed with all the questions she had, "you wanted to kill Josie and I, so why didn't you?"
Kai just hummed, "this was a lot more, what's the word? Oh right. Fun."
"I hate you."
"I know, everyone hates me," he winked, "be careful with that human, you never know when you'll snap, could be in a hot make out session and then bite bite bite-"
"Leave me alone!"
Kai just grinned when suddenly he disappeared in a flash, Lizzie was confused but then saw Rae walk up with a Carmeled Apple, "you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine," she hid Rae's present in her jacket as she grabbed her hand, "it's your birthday, what do you want to do now?"
Rae just smiled cluelessly at Lizzie having no idea the devil had just infiltrated their day.
It was about 5 pm when they headed to Rae's house, Rae didn't want to stay there that night but she had to get some clothes and stuff if she was staying at the Salvatore another night.
As Rae walked through the thresh hold, she realized Lizzie stopped, she turned to her, "what's wrong?"
"Uh," Lizzie laughed, "funny story I'm a vampire or, well techincally Heretic, so I have to be invited in."
Rae made an o shape with her mouth, "okay, uh, Lizzie Saltzman, would you like to come in?"
"No thank you," Lizzie joked.
Rae just rolled her eyes laughing as Lizzie walked in, she pecked her lips, "you should eat something before you come back with me," she told her.
"Fine, for you," Rae walked to the kitchen, she opened her fridge looking over it when Lizzie nudged her making her glance over seeing her holding a small wrapped present, "Lizzie!"
"I know you said no presents, but, I had to," Lizzie handed it to her as the dark blonde closed the fridge and took it, "I don't care if your dad messed you up, it's not fair that he did this to you, you deserve better."
Rae smiled tears in her eyes, she opened the present, revealing a black velvet box... She opened it and saw:
"Oh my god..."
"Do you like it?"
Rae looked at her, "it's- it's beautiful! I love it!"
Lizzie smiled as she took it from her taking the necklace out, Rae held her hair up as Lizzie put it around her neck, the blonde for a split second eyed the vien in her neck but ignored it as she clasped the necklace.
Rae turned around smiled down at it, "it's so pretty! And looks expensive," she said now looking at Lizzie questioningly.
"Don't worry, dad gave me the money so I could buy you something," Lizzie told her.
Rae smiled as she stepped closer kissing the blonde. Lizzie kissed back as she grabbed Rae's hands, she felt some of her heightened urges come up, as she deepened the kiss.
Lizzie suddenly pushed Rae up against the fridge a bit hard making the dark blonde laugh, Lizzie apologized but Rae just kissed her again showing her it was okay. Which gave her the go to continue, she kissed her deeply as her hands traveled to her waist. The heavy make out session moved as Lizzie moved to her neck kissing it, her lips ran over the vien and for a moment she wanted to bite but she tried to control herself. But something was fighting her this time.
Lizzie kissed down on the neck again but then her fangs came out and suddenly she bit into her neck!
Rae let out a scream as she felt the fangs into her, she struggled but couldn't get out Lizzie's grasp, Lizzie drank her blood like it was the only thing she wanted! The fighting of Rae was only making her urges worse when suddenly she stopped...
Lizzie pulled out her fangs realizing what she had done, "oh my god, Rae, I'm so sorry!"
As Lizzie looked at her, she noticed she was limp, she let go of her and the girl fell to the floor!
"No!"
Lizzie fell to her knees grabbing her, "Rae! Wake up!" Lizzie pulled her into her lap coddling her face close to hers, "Rae, please, please, wake up! I can't live without you!"
But she didn't move, her hand laid limp on the tile floor, and Rae's eyes remained closed.
"No!"
Lizzie repeated the word crying loudly almost screaming as she cried into the girl she loves body...
