So as we all know, an LGBT member's worst enemy as an elderly, conservative, religious, homophobic person. Amirite?
There are a lot of issues and debates between these two topics. I want to review them and share my personal opinion, and feel free to comment your own opinions, because I won't change mine.
1. "God hates gays."
This honestly is the stupidest statement ever because do you know God? Have you met him? How do you know who he does and doesn't like? Plus, why would he hate something he created? I'm not religious, but I do know Christians believe that when God creates people, he makes them the way they are for a reason. Why would he make a person be attracted to the same sex, only to hate them for it?
2. Being gay is a choice.
This is similar to the first one. Being gay isn't a choice and if I could choose? I would choose to be happy.
3. LGBT people can't be religious.
Actually, there are a lot of Muslim, Christian, and other religious LGBT members out there. A lot of Christians say that you can't "pick and choose things" out of the bible, like the sin of homosexuality plus being a Christian. But most Christians who say this are hypocrites, because they might have eaten shrimp at one point, or have tattoos, or they might have worn two different fabrics at the same time. Those are all sins according to the bible. It also says that no sin is greater than the other. So, Christians, look at yourself before analyzing us. (That goes for every other religion). Religion is like sexuality; it's different for everyone, and you can adjust it to make yourself comfortable because it's your life. Also, when you think about it, didn't Jesus die on the cross so that you could do all those sins and be safe?
I have practically vented in the above statements, mainly because I've personally dealt with a religious, conservative family. Comment if you relate, or I've missed one. please vote as well. thanks for reading. the next entry is about feminism and gender norms.
