Of all things possible, life just couldn't stop throwing curve balls at Ember
Life or a daddy named Sarah but we not finna talk about that
"Ember?" Gabrielle asked, making the brunette snap her head around
Of all the goddamned things that could ever happen in this world. Why. Oh why, must Ember be put into this situation
The girl's heart stopped in her chest and everything started to move slowly when her eyes landed on gold orbs standing at the door
She leaned against the door her white dress flowing over her body. It created an infinity shape around her neck and swirled around to her back, white left her neckline and shoulder exposed, Ember's eyes looked over the girl's defined collar bone and bit her lip
The girl ran a finger through her straight her and flipped it all over to one side of her face, allowing her bright red lipstick to show. It fitted her complexion so perctly, her black eyeliner brought out her golden honey eyes under the charcoal sky with white sugar stars
She waltzed on with an effortless saunter. The clicking of her heels added rhythm to the soft classical music that played onward inside the house without pause. Her eyes scanned her own with determination
In Ember's mind, she could only see the girl as beautiful, like the stars themselves decided to rest behind the soft cushion of her lips
Ember was lost in a trance, hypnotized at everything Gabrielle did
"Gabrielle?" She asked
"I heard shouting outside, then I heard the name Fallon and I was confused and came outside" Gabrielle mumbled
"Oh. Right" The brunette muttered
A silence fell over them, unspoken words finally spoken through their body language
It was the kind that even a feather would fall without drifting one way or the other
The grass was straight and silent, the leaves dangled more as if they had been painted there. Should a person be able to feel the beating of the birds' wings that would have been the only breeze. It was still, utterly still. Neither of them wanting to speak
Yet there was so much to talk about
Ember's head was low to avoid the girl's stare, knowing her heart would start pounding again in her chest if she caught another glance of Gabrielle
But for some reason she felt the girl's eyes on her, moving up and down her body. She barley glanced up, only to see that Gabrielle was truly admiring every inch of her body
The familiar pink stain touched Gabrielle's cheeks when she noticed she was caught
"Sorry, you just look beautiful" She said low, but Ember still caught it
A small chuckle left her throat as she took a step up, coming a bit closer towards the blonde
Being so close to her felt surreal, but it also brought back memories of the times they were that intimate
Something always seemed to happen between the two, yet both were dumbasses that wouldn't sort their lives out and BE TOGETHER. LIKE GODDAMN, JUST TALK IT OUT FOR FUCK SAKES
"Babe?" A voice called out, making Ember furrow her brows
Ah shit, here we go again.
The door soon opened to reveal the kind of man that tiktok talks about
His smile reached his ear while his curly raven hair bounced with every step he took, coming towards the two girls
"Hi, Ember right? It's nice to see you here" he said
"Uh huh" Ember mumbled, taking a step away from the blonde
"Hey babe, I've been looking all over for you" Henry grinned, hooking his arm around the girl's shoulder and placing a soft kiss on her cheek
Ember scrunched her face up in disgust as she looked away from the 'couple'
Yet she felt a hand reach down on her own, Ember glanced down to see Gabrielle's hands hooked around her wrist as she tugged her back slightly
The brunette furrowed her brows as she glanced up into the golden eyes, they shimmered slightly under the stars which only made them look ever prettier than they were
Every second that she spent there with the girl was going to drive her crazy, especially to the fact that Henry was all up on her
"Sorry, I was... Talking to Ember about something" Gabrielle mumbled
"Really? What were you guys talking about?" he asked
"Oh.. Um" The blonde started to mumble
"Nothing that concerns you" Ember cut her off
"Excuse me?" he asked
"You're excused" The girl said, making the man scoff
"If I want to ask my girlfriend what she was talking about then I have a right to" he said
"Oh no" Gabrielle mumbled to herself
"It's nothing that concerns you, now if you'll excuse me. I have a dinner to attend" Ember stated, hooking her fingers around her the buttons of her blazer and bringing it together
"Stay out of this" Henry hissed
"Sure. I don't seem to be needed anywhere here either way" the girl said calmly, but her eyes glanced into gold ones
Gabrielle's head immediately fell low as the guilt started to trail over her face
"Exactly as I thought" the brunette mumbled before walking away
She had no idea why the two were even here in the first place, but she was sure to find out soon
But for now, she needed to be as far away as possible from the couple before her heart took its final beating, knocking it out completely
Never to be the same ever again
The second Ember pushed those doors open, her hands grabbed a hold of one of the champagnes being carried around on a tray by a server
The girl brought to glass to her lips and didn't hesitate to drown it down her throat in just seconds
"Hey!" she called out, catching the attention of everyone in the same room
The server immediately ran back towards the girl and brought another glass
"Matter of fact, keep em coming all night" she said, taking two glasses of the tray and immediately downing one down her throat with ease and placing it back on the tray while she held the other between her fingers
As if a target was on her back, she was immediately spotted by her mother who held a wide smile -The fakest one, might I add- As she speed walk over towards her daughter who seemed to turn liquid of thousands of dollars into a cheap shot at a bar
"Oh my dear, you're here" the woman nervously chuckled, her eyes glancing around to her guests who all muttered something amongst each other while eyeing them
"Yes mother, I'm here. Or would you rather me leave because I'd love to-"
"No no dear. You're already here, let's get you... Away... From here. Yes?" she said, holding her fake smile
"Ooh I get it. I'm embarrassing you. Got it" Ember chuckled
"God sakes Ember, get ahold of yourself. You're embarrassing the company name" the woman hissed quietly
"Would you look at that. Such encouraging words to the person you're begging to actually take over the company. Smart move, mother" Ember glared
Eyes were all flowing around them, whispers started and Ember's mother could only fear that the gossips had started
But Ember truly didn't care anymore at this point. Paint her out to be the villain, say whatever you wanted to her face
It still wouldn't hurt more than her watching the girl she had fallen for walk around with her boyfriend
Over and over again.
