My partner is a dragon

Wing turned around but could not see his friend. “My partner in this world is a dragon, but he's invisible right now.” As her eyes went blank, he added, “Don’t be afraid, right?” But before Vinyl could say anything, Wing had called. “She’s OK, Arcturus!”

The outline of a great majestic obsidian dragon appeared next to the fire. The young man saw the shock in Vinyl’s face. “Yeah, I know... But that’s me,” he said as Vinyl’s heart sank.

She jumped when she heard the dragon’s rumbling deep voice echoing in her chest. “Uh… Good to meet you.”

Fear struck her. She screamed as she fled, her heart pounding violently. Wing tried to run after her. “No! No! NO!” “WAIT! HE’S OK, HE’S...”.

She vanished as the dragon sighed, glaring at Wing.

“You absolute prick... What did you expect? Of course she wasn’t ready to meet me!” he said.

Wing look defeated. “Yeah, but I couldn’t hide you... Shit.”

“Prick. Just put away the food and keep it for later, I’ll go tell the others that, thanks to you, Mr. THICK, Vinyl has been scared cold out of her wits and it’s not clear we’ll see her anytime soon. You Bloody, Blundering Blunderbuss.”

After glaring again at Wing, Arcturus snorted heavily and took off, sending a massive shockwave towards the boy who was knocked right out of his flip flops and sent flying into the campfire. As it happened, the fire still harbored warm aging embers, which gleefully sparked right back to life when the gust of wind swept over them.

Crying out, Wing jumped right back up and tried to brush the embers off his scorched backside, cursing heavily at the Dragon. But soon, he felt an invisible hand grip his guts; what would happen to Vinyl now?

He had messed up, badly. There would be consequences.
