Chapter 432
Unspoken Hearts: My Neglected Mute Wife’s Escape

Sophie shook her head earnestly. âNo, I saw it on TV. But if you donât want to watch it, I wonât.â
Kallie smiled softly and stroked Sophieâs head. âLetâs just get some sleep now,â she murmured.
What Kallie didnât realize was that Jake had been standing just outside the door, overhearing their entire conversation. He had been about to enter, but after a momentâs hesitation, he released the doorknob and stepped back. Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket, breaking the stillness of the moment.
Jake quickly moved away from the door and answered the call. A familiar female voice greeted him, dripping with arrogance.
âJake, I bet you didnât expect me to catch you in my web again. Itâs time to make a choice. Either reveal your identity or get Kallie out of Avalon, because if you donât, sheâll never have peace here again.â
Joannaâs confidence was palpable, her tone laced with smugness. She had covered her tracks, disposing of Charleeâs body with meticulous care. The police would find nothing, leaving Kallie as the prime suspect. Otherwise, Jake would have involved the police already.
Jakeâs expression darkened, his eyes hardening with cold resolve.
Joannaâs tone shifted as Jake remained silent.
âWell, hereâs another option. Publicly state that I had no involvement with what happened at the Martel family home, clear my name of any suspicion, and promise you wonât oppose me again. In return, Iâll drop all legal actions. What do you think, Jake?â
Jakeâs response was tinged with disdain. âJoanna, you killed your own mother. Do you really think youâll escape the consequences?â
Joanna laughed dismissively. âConsequences? The things youâve done are worse than mine. After all, didnât you end your motherâs life? Thatâs why youâre hiding in the shadows, living under a false name.â
âNo, I am nothing like you,â Jake replied coolly. âYou think you can leverage these baseless accusations to intimidate me?â
Joanna smirked as she declared, âIâve laid out options for you. Choose wisely. My patience is thinning. You have three days.â
After the call, Edgar approached Jake quietly. âSir, Iâve traced the origin of that post; it came from Sarah.â
Jake sneered. âIf Joanna had involved someone else, perhaps Iâd feel threatened. But Sarah? Thatâs unexpected.â
Edgar expressed his concern. âHowever, Mr. Reeves, the situation is quite serious. Various groups are covertly investigating us. If this continues, your true identity might be revealed.â
Jake massaged his temples, urging calm. âLetâs not rush our response.â
Meanwhile, Errol confronted Sarah under the harsh sunlight. As Sarah leisurely enjoyed her fruit, Errolâs sudden grab sent her crashing to the floor, the plate shattering and fruit scattering everywhere.
Sarah stood, visibly annoyed. âWhat do you think youâre doing, Errol?â
Errolâs expression was a mix of anger and contempt. âOut with it. Tell me what youâve been up to. Donât play dumb. Iâm no fool.â
Sarah glanced down, her guilt apparent. âWhat could I have possibly done? I havenât broken any laws.â
Errolâs grip tightened painfully on her wrist. âSarah, that hurts,â she whimpered, adopting an innocent facade.
