Chapter 161
Beyond the Divorce
âIâm impressed that you live up to expectations,â he said.
Someone must have told him about me.
Graciously, I responded, âWell, I was just trying to be upfront with you. Given our situation, Iâm grateful youâre willing to consider us.â
After seeing Damian off to the elevator, I went straight to Ryanâs office and shared the story with him.
Ryan listened and playfully said, âThatâs cheeky of you.â
I defended myself, saying, âWell, they came to us, didnât they? And I suspect thereâs more to this than meets the eye.â
Ryan nodded in agreement.
âWeâll have to be cautious,â I said, settling on the sofa. âBut a project involving duplexes totaling 50,000 square meters is an enormous opportunity for Tanum. We canât pass this up if the price is right.â
Then I added, âIf they try to pull tricks, weâll deal with it.â
Ryan paused. âSince youâve left room for negotiation, let us decide after learning more about Echelon Group. If the terms are good, we should take the job. We can cover salaries with the advance payment if things go south.â
He added, âMaybe theyâre also looking into you.â
âWouldnât Matthew know all about me already?â
âWell, he still doesnât know your ties with ATL Empire, does he?â
After a pause, I said, âIâve already asked someone to help me look into Echelon Group.â
Matthew might use the company against me, but if they offered me money, I planned to take it and maybe even ask for more.
