Chapter 365
Beyond the Divorce
Fate Lauren and I both understood that this wasnât something you could just end with a clean break.
Ivanna kept her head down.
âAtlas is, after all, a legitimate businessman,â Lauren sighed. âBut Jared, heâs unpredictable, Ivanna.
Iâm not trying to scare you!â
Unexpectedly, Ivanna raised her head with a slight smirk. Defiantly, she said, âI knew it from the first day I met him.â
that?
âChloe, did you see Itâs over⦠Sheâs done for and beyond saving!â Laurenâs words became somewhat disjointed. âChloâs troubles havenât been resolved, and you stir up more!â
âWhat do you mean Iâm stirring things up?â Ivanna replied. âThis is fate!â
âOh, come on! Fate?â Lauren scoffed. âIvanna, if you end up in his wifeâs crosshairs, youâll know what fate means.
I had some doubts as I looked at Lauren. âArenât you being a bit too dramatic?â
âHahaâ¦â Lauren heard my words and nearly broke down. âTrinity is a demon. Please be careful, Ivanna, because Trinity has done many things. Even Jared canât handle her!â
âWeâll be careful!â Ivanna looked at us and said softly, âActually, some things canât be explained. My acquaintance with him is a long story.â
I was stunned when Ivanna said this. Did she enter the lionâs den knowingly?
âIvanna, why go through all this?â I didnât know how to stop her. I just felt a growing sense of helplessness.
âOh, never mind me. For now, letâs focus on resolving Chloâs troubles,â Ivanna said. âThings between Jared and me are not as bad as you think.
âBy the way, Harmony has been thriving lately. Itâs like sheâs hit the fast track and been taking on endorsements nonâstop,â Ivanna said. âBut she seems to be more cautious than before.â
âHas Stella been looking for her again?â I asked. âIt seems like Stella has gone into hiding!â
Hahal Sheâs changed her tactics!â Lauren bluntly stated.
Ivanna chuckled silently at how we successfully changed the subject. Later, the two of them joined me for dinner. Ryan also tagged along, claiming he was here for the food. Really, he was helping my mom.
We continued to talk for a while after we finished eating. Then Ryan walked me back to my room and said, âYou donât need to worry too much. Rest well, and leave the rest to me and Grayson.â
dat âIâm fine. Itâs just my foot that hurts, not my mind.â I looked at Ryan.
He had been fiercely protective of me since that day in the hospital. I knew just how much he cared. He was quietly looking out for me, without complaints, and always dependable.
1 truly felt like I owed him so much that it was impossible to repay.
âYou call the shots on everything!â I trusted Ryan, so I wasnât worried about the company, 1 âYou need to recover quickly. Iâve already asked a friend overseas to help us find a business planner.
Theyâll create a comprehensive brand development plan for us. I want to arrange a meeting in Foswood once youâre better!â
âOh? Thereâs someone like that?â I was surprised.
âOf course, business planners exist in many large corporations. They assess the companyâs health first, then its resources. Following consultation with the company, they created a chart. This determines the best way to minimize risks and when to cut losses.â
I was genuinely impressed, and I could tell that his strategy combined advanced experience. It made me excited. We talked late into the night before he finally left.
Strangely, I felt more awake. I got up and slowly walked to the terrace. The reporters lurking outside were gone, and the peace had returned.
I leaned against the railing and looked up at the sky. It had been almost a year since I learned about Matthewâs affair. My life had taken such a dramatic turn in the previous year.
A car approached the gate from afar, heading inside. It was most likely a vehicle from one of the back.
villas. My heartbeat unexpectedly skipped a beat.
In my mind, an image of Atlasâs Maserati appeared. I watched as the car turned toward the back.
Suddenly, a surge of emotions welled up within me, only to be extinguished just as quickly.
