Chapter 462
Heartbreak Brings Mr. Right
Nicolas gave a wry smile and replied slowly, âAre they dating, engaged, or married? If not, why do you say that Selah is his girl?
She belongs to herself, nobody else.
â
Unable to sway Nicolas with words, Mercer grabbed him by the collar and pinned him against the wall.
âLook, I donât want to see my brother and my friend at each otherâs throats over a girl.
Plus, youâre no match for Arturo.
Turns out, Selah had a child with Arturo!â
Nicolasâs face registered utter disbelief.
âWhat did you just say?â
Mercer relaxed his hold and stepped away.
âNicolas, Iâve said my piece.
Just be careful not to get too caught up with Selah, or we might all end up in a tough spot.
â
Nicolas, usually the picture of calm, now had a lot on his mind.
With nothing more from Nicolas, Mercer slipped into his coat and left.
The moment Mercer got into his car, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
A soft voice answered.
âMr.
Aston, to what do I owe the pleasure of your call?â
âMeet me at Champs Le Bar, third floor, in thirty minutes,â Mercer said and then hung up, tossing the phone onto the seat next to him before driving off.
Once Mercer was gone, Nancy returned to their private room and told Lindsey she wasnât feeling well and needed to head home early.
âGuess weâll call it a day,â Lindsey said, feeling weary herself.
She took the chance to wrap up the gathering.
Leaving the karaoke bar, Lindsey and Nancy walked arm in arm until Nancy stopped.
She was pale but forced a smile.
âLinds, I wonât hold you up from your time with your boyfriend.
Iâm off, bye.
â
âNancy.
â Lindsey reached for her, noticing how cold her wrist felt.
âAre you sure youâre alright?â
Nancy just laughed it off.
âOf course, I am fine.
Donât look so sad to see me go, or youâll make someone jealous.
â
She shot a playful look at Domenic standing behind Lindsey.
âALL right.
See you tomorrow.
â
âSure.
Take care,â Lindsey said, still concerned.
As Nancy walked away, she turned back with a grin.
âLinds, make sure you two find happiness together, okay?â
âNancyâ¦â Lindsey started, but Nancy cut her off with a wave, still smiling.
âI mean it.
Although it seems a little early now, Iâll give you my best wishes when you get married.
For now, Iâm off.
â
Lindsey watched her go, frowning as Nancyâs cheerful figure vanished from sight.
âMr.
Walsh.
â Lindsey said softly.
Domenicâs hand found its way to her shoulders.
He inquired, âWhatâs up?â
âDoesnât everyone seem off today? Nancy hadnât always been this way, but today⦠I canât shake the feeling sheâs keeping secrets from me.
â
