âMs. Welch, what can I do for you?â Mr. Yaxley approached her eagerly with a big smile on his face. âLet me ask you, is it true that we have a Dragon Panax?â
âIndeed we do. Itâs in the vault,â Mr. Yaxley replied honestly. âGreat, bring it to me now,â Eleanor instructed.
âMs. Welch, what are you going to do with it?â Mr. Yaxley tried to ask.
âWhy do you care? I have my reasons!â Eleanor replied impatiently. âMs. Welch, I must confess that this item is a part of Mr. Welch Seniorâs precious collection. Iâm afraid I cannot simply hand it over without his permission,â Mr. Yaxley explained with his head lowered.
âJust bring it to me for now. Iâll talk toGrandpa about it later,â Eleanor insisted.
âThis⦠doesnât seem right.â Mr. Yaxley was put in a difficult spot.
âHey! You wonât even listen to me now? Eleanor glared at him. âI told you to bring it to me! Why so much nonsense? Go!â As she spoke, she gave his backside a swift kick.
âPlease, hold on, Ms. Welch.â Mr. Yaxley was left with little choice but to make an exit. âMiracle doctor, please have a seat and enjoy some tea. Your item will be here soon,â Eleanor said with a smile.
She then guided Dustin to a seat under a pavilion, where they started having some snacks. Around ten minutes later, Mr. Yaxley returned. However, this time, he was accompanied by a woman in her early thirties.
The woman wore a tight red dress, accentuating her stunning facial features and voluptuous figure. And her flowing dark hair that was tied behind her back added to her graceful look.
With every light step that she took, her fair, slender legs peaked through the slit of her dress. She was the embodiment of a timeless elegance.
âEleanor,â an unfeeling voice passed through her lips. Eleanor, who was enjoying her snacks, trembled. She turned around stiffly, her face tinged with guilt.
âMom⦠what brings you here?â
âIf I hadnât come, you would have turned our house upside down,â Joanne Swanson said impassively.
âWhat do you mean? Havenât I always been a good girl?â Eleanor forced a laugh. There was nothing in the world that Eleanor was afraid of except her mother.
Her mother never raised her voice against her. However, for some reason, she felt inexplicably nervous whenever she saw her. âJoaquin told me earlier that you needed the Dragon Panax. What are you going to do with it?â Joanne asked.
âN-Nothing.â Eleanor glared at Mr. Yaxley. She then smiled awkwardly. âMy friend needs the Dragon Panax to save a life, so I wanted to help him.â
As she spoke, she pointed at Dustin. â This miracle doctor is the friend Iâm talking about. He was the one who pulled me back from the brink of death the last time I nearly drowned.â
âIs that so?â Joanne shifted her focus to Dustin. While she appeared indifferent, her gaze carried a subtle hint of contempt. It was a look tinged with an air of superiority.
âHello, Mrs. Welch. My name is Dustin. âDustin greeted her humbly. âYou were the one who needed the Dragon Panax?â Joanneâs tone was calm.
âYes.â Dustin nodded.
âIâm very grateful that you saved my daughter.â
Joanne then glanced at Mr. Yaxley and said, âJoaquin, bring the item over.â
âYes, maâam,â Mr. Yaxley responded before leaving once more. âThanks, Mom!â Eleanor beamed, thinking the matter was resolved. However, when Mr. Yaxley returned with the item, Eleanorâs smile froze, and even Dustin couldnât help but frown.
