Chapter 288 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âJust friends, eh? Then you wonât mind going home with me right this instant!â Dustin snapped.
âBut ⦠Dahlia frowned and glanced at Dustin and Luis, troubled. Although she didnât have any feelings for Luis, the man had helped her, so it wouldnât be right to turn her back on him now.
âWhatâs wrong? You donât want to?â Dustin sneered. âIs this what you call an ordinary friend? How am I supposed to believe you?â
Dustin couldnât believe that Dahlia was still hesitating. It seemed that he was even less important than her ordinary friends, and here he thought that their relationship had been improving. It must have been his imagination.
âForget it, Ms. Nicholson. You donât have to think about it so hard. Weâre nothing to each other now. Enjoy your meal. Iâll be taking my leave. Dustin shook his head and turned around.
âWait for me.â Grabbing two bottles, Adam hurried after Dustin. He didnât have any experience when it came to love, so he couldnât help Dustin.
After stepping out of the restaurant, Dustin remained motionless as he faced the cold wind, feeling frustrated. He was at a loss for how to deal with his emotions. He may have said it was fine, but his heart still stung
when he saw Dahlia with another man,
âForget about her, buddy. There are lots of women everywhere else.â Adam stepped forward and patted Dustinâs shoulder. âWith your skills, it wonât be hard for you to get any woman you want. Why donât you consider my sister?â
âHell no!â A feminine voice rang out from behind them.
The two men spun around to see a stunning woman heading toward them.
It was none other than Dahlia.
âWhy did you come out?â Dustin was surprised. He didnât expect her to chase after him, assuming she would ignore him.
âYouâre such a petty man!â Dahlia huffed. âHow could you run out when weâve barely spoken!â
âWerenât you having dinner with your friend? What are you doing here?â Dustin pretended to be calm but was actually relieved.
âIâm here to enjoy the breeze, alright?â Dahlia rolled her eyes, secretly pleased to see Dustin jealous.
âUgh, the stench of love.â Adam shook his head.
âShut up!â Dahlia and Dustin shouted in unison.
âArenât you worried if you just leave that man alone?â Dustin asked.
âWhat else can I do? Iâll just have to get him a present as an apology.â Dahlia shrugged. She seemed to have finally opened her eyes.
âYou havenât eaten, have you? Why donât you join us?â Dustin offered.
Dahlia humphed. âAt least youâre considerate.â She patted her belly, realizing she was hungry.
âLetâs go. Weâll bring you somewhere nice.â Dustin walked over to the car to open the door.
Just as she was about to get into the car, Dahliaâs eyes widened when she saw a truck loaded with dirt heading straight for them at top speed.
Watch out!â She frantically shoved Dustin away.
