Chapter 302 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
âWhy arenât you saying anything? Do you agree with what I said?â Dustinâs final glimmer of hope disappeared along with Dahliaâs silence. Heâd given her a chance to explain herself, but she didnât give him the answer he wanted.
âIâm sorry. I have my reasons.â Dahlia felt her heart bleeding, and breathing became difficult.
âReasons?â Dustin sneered. âWhat could make you sell your body? What could stop you from explaining things to me?â
âIâm sorry⦠Iâm sorryâ¦â Dahlia sobbed, anguished.
âDonât apologize to me. Weâre already divorced, sol have no right to control anything you do, and you didnât betray me.â Dustinâs face gradually turned hard. âHowever, please donât ever bother me again. Iâm still human. I canât keep being hurt by you. So, wonât you please let me go?â
âI â¦â Dahlia didnât know what to say.
Perhaps the best thing for her to do now was to completely cut ties with him since she had no choice but to yield to Luis for her brother, her family, and Dustin. Still, sheâd already made up her mind. The day of her union with Luis would be the day she died.
âAlright. Thatâs enough. Youâve said everything you needed to say.â Luis grinned tauntingly. âWait for me in the room, Dahlia. Weâll have some fun later.â
Dahlia didnât move. However, Dustinâs breathing began to quicken.
âWhat are you waiting for? A show?â Luis gave Dustin a disdainful look over. âThough I must admit. Youâve got good taste in women. Her smooth, supple skin sure is lovely! Iâll have lots of fun later. Well, you can watch from the side if you donât mind.â Luis chuckled, grinning wickedly.
âYouâre dead meat!â Enraged, Dustin planted his foot into Luisâ abdomen and, with a bang, the latter crashed into the wall, passing out on the spot
âAre you crazy, Dustin? Do you have any idea what youâve done?â Dahlia immediately paled. Luis was an aristocrat in Stonia. Offending someone like him was like asking for someone to kill
you.
âWhat? Are you worried about him?â Dustin sniggered. âFor you to fall for a pervert like him, I canât help wondering if thereâs something wrong with your eyes.
||
âThat has nothing to do with you. Get out! I never want to see you again!â Dahlia bit her lip, trying to control her emotions. Injuring Luis was no small matter. Dustin would be in trouble if Luisâ bodyguards were to arrive now.
âAre you finally showing your true colors? Have you decided to stop pretending?â Dustin chuckled coolly
âSo what? I donât mind letting you know Iâm not just dating him. Weâre engaged, and our wedding is in three days!â Dahlia revealed the shocking news.
âWhat? Engaged?â Dustinâs expression immediately darkened. âWhatâs wrong with you? How could you marry someone like him?â
âWho I marry is none of your business! And youâre right. I was toying with your feelings, but so what? You were the one who was stupid enough to listen to me. Why donât you look in the fucking mirror? Do you think a broke loser like you can stand beside me? Luis is different. With his family background and power, Iâll live a luxurious life once I marry him! Compared to him, youâre nothing! There you go. This is the truth you wanted! Are you happy now!â Dahlia roared.
âYouâre shameless!â Unable to stop himself, Dustin slapped her, and clear marks appeared on her face instantly.
Dustin was shocked. Never once in their three years of marriage had he ever struck her, so he never expected himself to lose control of his emotions. Still, anger quickly took over his dismay.
She deserved it!
âI was an idiot to believe you. Please donât ever appear before me ever again!â Dustin spat before leaving.
âDus-â Dahlia reached out a hand to stop him but managed to stop herself. She knew that this was the end for them. However, this was still a good ending.
So, why? Why did her heart ache so much?
Her chest was throbbing so much she couldnât breathe.
âDahlia! What happened?â Just then, Florence had arrived. When she spotted Luis unconscious on the floor, she paled. âDid you do this?â
âMom, Dustin dropped by just now. He knows everything now. Weâre never getting back together.â Dahlia wailed, throwing herself into her motherâs embrace.
âShh⦠Momâs here.â Florence patted her daughterâs back. âYour status has changed. Dustin isnât good enough for you anymore.
âB-but I love him! I really want to be with him! Why is God doing this to me? I donât want to accept this!â Dahlia wailed tormentedly.
âLife isnât always smooth sailing, Dahlia. You should look on the bright side instead. Iâm sure youâll be happier in the future.â Florence sighed.
âMom, do you know how much it hurt when I said those hurtful things to him? It was like a knife was twisting inside me! I wanted to tell him the truth and that I loved him, but I couldnât. Iâm worried he might get arrested again. Mom, it hurts. It hurts so much!â Dahlia howled, thumping her heart furiously like it would make her feel better.
While she was weeping, her vision suddenly turned black, and she lost consciousness.
