Chapter 303 by Marina Vittori
An Understated Dominance
Even after returning to the medical center, Dustin still felt restless after the heavy blow Dahlia had given him. He never thought that she was the kind of person who would toy with hist emotions for revenge.
They could have ended their relationship on a good note, yet she decided to make them enemies. Dustin just couldnât understand why. No matter how hard he thought back, he was sure he had never once done anything bad to her.
âDustin, are you in trouble?â Maximus emerged from the living room and asked. âLet me know if you need my help.â
The past few days of treatment have healed his core. He might not be as strong as before, but he was satisfied with just this.
âWonât you drink with me?â Dustin fumbled around the cabinets for two bottles of wine. With Gregory around, there was never a shortage of alcohol.
âSure.â Maximus sat down without a second thought.
The two men began to drink, but no one spoke, so the tension in the air increased.
After a few glasses, Dustin eventually spoke. âHowâs your injury?â
âItâs healing great. Iâll be fine in another two days.â Maximus was filled with gratitude. âItâs all thanks to your skills. Iâd be doomed if it werenât for you.â
âYou can stop being so formal. It sounds weird. Just talk to me casually.â Dustin topped up their glasses.
âI-I canât do that. Iâll just keep talking like this.â Maximus grinned sheepishly.
âDo it your way.â Dustin tipped his head back and downed his glass.
âDid you run into relationship problems?â Maximus asked, finishing his glass as well.
âHow did you know?â Dustin raised an eyebrow.
âItâs easy to realize once youâre in the same boat.â Maximus smiled sadly. What could be worse than someoneâs fiancée sleeping with their mentor?
âThatâs true.â Dustin calmed slightly when he thought of the things the other man had gone through, and he began spilling everything to Maximus, everything since he needed someone to confide in.
âSay, did I marry the wrong person to end up this way?â Dustin smiled sadly.
âI have a different opinion, Dustin.â Maximus paused. âDid you ever think that Ms. Nicholson had no choice?â
âCouldnât she have told me why?â Dustin shook his head.
She probably would if she could.â Maximus sighed, âYou were married to her for three years. You should know her best. Do you think sheâs that kind of person?â
Dustin stilled for a second before recovering. âEveryone can change. Just because she wasnât
before doesnât mean she wonât be in the future. No one can truly tell whatâs going through a womanâs mind.â
âTake it easy, Dustin. Time will prove everything.â Maximus consoled him.
âLetâs stop talking about this. Letâs drink!â Dustin pulled out another two bottles of wine, fully intending to enjoy himself that night.
Just then, a black car pulled up at the entrance, and a man in a suit trudged into the building. âWho is Dustin Rhys?â
