Chapter 1741
When Love Comes Late
Benny paced back and forth in the study, feeling restless as he thought about his next move.
Edmund also got the news and called Benny.
âI heard Matthew is about to wake up.
Whatâs your plan now?â
Edmundâs voice was cold; Matthewâs recovery couldnât have come at a worse time for them.
âJust remember, once Matthew wakes up, all our hard work will be for nothing.
â
It was such a simple truth; Benny couldnât ignore it.
He clenched his fists, eyes red with determination.
âI wonât let him wake up.
Iâll find someone to end him.
â
Just then, the maidâs voice interrupted, âMiss Diaz, why are you out of your room?â
Benny hung up abruptly, rushed out, but Flossie wasnât there.
His expression darkened.
âWhereâs Flossie?â he demanded of the maid.
The maid stood in the living room, clutching her apron with her head bowed.
âIâm not sure.
I just came out of the kitchen and saw Miss Diaz standing here.
I thought she needed something.
â
âNever mind.
Carry on with your work,â Benny said coldly.
He turned and headed toward Flossieâs room.
Flossie lay on the bed, closing her eyes, but her lips trembled uncontrollably.
Benny touched Flossieâs head, making her tremble even more.
He looked down, his expression unreadable.
âYou heard me, didnât you?â
Flossie stayed silent, too afraid to open her eyes.
She wished it was all just a bad dream.
She wished she would wake up at Stellaâs wedding, surrounded by blessings toward Stella.
But Bennyâs cold voice brought her back to reality, reminding her it wasnât a dream, but the truth.
Benny didnât hide his intentions.
âI promised to be honest with you.
I really want to end Matthew.
If he died at the wedding, I wonât have to do it again.
â
He placed his hand on Flossieâs head, speaking gently.
âPlease understand.
I have to avenge my mother and Evelyn.
Matthew has to pay.
â
Flossie opened her eyes finally.
The room was dimly lit.
She could see Bennyâs face, but everything else was blurry.
Benny seemed like a stranger to her now, but she needed an answer.
âYou want revenge for your mother and Evelyn, but what about me?â
Benny evaded the question, visibly irritated.
He frowned and said, âI know youâre upset, but donât make things complicated.
Iâm doing all this for our future.
Youâre Edmundâs daughter.
If I donât succeed, I wonât earn his respect.
â
