Chapter 1743
When Love Comes Late
He took the phone, returning it to the nurse, before scooping Flossie up with a worried air.
âThe doctor mentioned possible miscarriage.
You need rest.
Donât wander around risking another accident.
â
His cold tone sent shivers down her spine.
But she didnât struggleâshe feared for her unborn child.
Placing her on the bed, Benny sighed resignedly.
âYouâre so disobedient.
Itâs getting difficult.
â
Flossie remained rigid, refusing to meet his gaze.
But he forced her chin up, demanding eye contact.
âWhy did you borrow the phone? To warn Stella after learning about my plan for Matthew?â
Flossieâs heart hammered in her chest.
Heâd seen through her.
âDo you honestly believe Stella would trust you, knowing you hid the fact that I was alive and gave me the chance to kill Matthew at the wedding?â
Flossieâs expression faltered.
Benny looked away.
âRemember, weâre in this together now.
Help me, donât betray me.
â
The Benny she knew was gone.
A chilling fear crept up her spine.
It took a long time to muster a voice.
âHow can you be so cruel? Youâve changed.
â
âThis is the real me,â he said coldly.
He glanced at his watch.
âTime to go.
â
Flossie frowned, wary.
âWhere are you taking me?â
His voice returned to normal.
âJust an examination.
Relax.
â
Despite her trepidation, the word âexaminationâ eased her concerns for the moment.
It was only when she was wheeled into the operating room that she felt panic setting in.
She knew something was amiss when the doctor tried to anaesthetize her.
Clutching the doctorâs arm, she demanded coldly âThis was supposed to be an examination.
Why do I need anesthesia?â
The doctorâs response chilled her to the bone.
âItâs standard procedure for an abortion, of course.
â
Flossieâs world tilted.
Benny was setting her up for an abortion without her consent? He hadnât even considered her feelings.
Tears welled up in her reddened eyes, threatening to spill.
She forced them back and struggled to rise.
The doctor, momentarily startled, reached out to stop her.
âDonât touch me!â Flossie snapped, her voice cracking.
âThis isnât happening! Not without a fight!â
She lunged for the exit, trying to escape the operating room.
