Chapter 1897
When Love Comes Late
Suddenly, another thought struck Stella, and she raised her head to look at Matthew with intense scrutiny.
âSo, is Kristian my biological father?â
Matthew hedged the question.
âThe investigation confirms Bella has only been married once.
â
Stellaâs frown deepened.
If that was true, then Kristian had to be her biological father.
But she just couldnât connect with him.
Sure, his demeanor was miles better than Elizabethâs, and he was a perfect gentleman.
She could even feel his love for Bella after their few interactions.
Yet, a strange discomfort settled over Stella whenever they were together.
Previously, Stella hadnât interacted much with Kristian, so she subconsciously pushed him aside in her
mind.
But now, it seemed accepting Kristian as her father was the price of admission to Bellaâs life.
Stella thought about it but found no solution.
After a bit, she murmured, her fingers twitching in anxiety, âI need to figure out how to break the news to Bella.
â
Both she and Bella had a gaping hole in their memories.
Stella faintly recalled having a mother, but did Bella even know she had a missing daughter?
More importantly, would Bella accept her?
Cordell, oblivious to Stellaâs internal struggle, blurted, âJust show her the report if you want to connect with her.
Itâs in your hands.
If she doubts it, you can all go to the hospital for a DNA test.
Itâs bound to be conclusive.
â
Stella sighed.
If only it were that easy.
She slumped forward, deep in thought.
Matthew shot Cordell a glare.
âGive her some space.
This is her call.
â
Just then, Stellaâs phone pierced the silence.
Startled, she answered it.
It was Clintâs number.
Sheâd been swamped lately, leading to less contact.
Fearing something was wrong, Stella picked up right away.
âGrandpa, whatâs happening?â
But a different voice, laced with panic, filled her ears.
âStella, itâs me.
â
Stellaâs stomach dropped.
âWhere is Grandpa?â
âMr.
Anderson just fainted and is in the resuscitation room.
We donât know his condition yet, and Iâm quite worriedâ¦â The butler trailed off.
Clintâs health was precarious at best.
A sudden fainting spell could be serious.
She immediately stood up.
âIâm on my way,â she declared, shoving the report aside.
Briefly explaining the situation to Matthew, she added, âI need to get back to Bysea right away.
â
Matthewâs face hardened.
âDonât worry, Iâm coming with you.
â
His phone buzzed just as he finished speaking.
It was Fernando calling.
