Chapter 157
Hiding the Twins from Their Billionaire Father
All afternoon, Rowan was busy selecting the best items for the twins- clothes, snacks, toys. He had never been so happy about using his black card. As the night fell, the trunk of his car no longer had space.
âSorry, Sir. Do you mind if I put several things in the front seat?â Peter asked with his hands full of shopping bags.
Rowan pursed his lips with his gaze fixed on the trunk. âI should have asked them to send it to Frankâs address,â he grumbled.
After a sigh, he pulled two big teddy bears from the trunk. âIâll take these with me. Arrange as best you can.â
âOkay, Sir.â
Peter opened the middle door for Rowan to enter before going back to adjusting the trunk. In his heart, he wondered what made his master change and where Sean had gone.
In the car, Rowan fixed the bow tie on the teddy bear in the black suit and then the red ribbon on the head of the bear in the pink suit. His eyes sparkled brightly. âThese bears are perfect for Louis and Emily. I bet they will love it.â
Chuckling, Rowan glanced at the guidebook beside him. âBe patie My Great-Grandchildren. We will be at peace soon. Letâs make yo wishes come true.â He breathed a sigh of relief. The air around hi had never been that light.
Suddenly, the repeated honks caught his attention. Rowan turned to look at the windshield. Apparently, a truck was speeding down the street. It swerved many times, trying to avoid other vehicles, but to no avail.

âSirâ¦!â Peter opened the car door with a panicked expression. âCome out now!â
Rowanâs mouth was agape, his body shaking. His breath roared as his heart was suddenly stricken with fear. As quickly as possible, he moved towards the door.
However, before he could get out, the truck hit his car. In a split second, the world felt like it was shaking. His ears were ringing and his gaze turned dark. The past flashed through his mind-how he founded the company, how he raised Norman, how he lost his son, and how he fought with his grandson. As Louis and Emily passed through his mind, tears came to his eyes.
âGood morning, Sir. Emily and I are very grateful that you gave us a scholarship. We are also happy we are invited to this cool event. Therefore, we want to give you a gift
âWe just bought colored pencils. So, we decided to give you our first drawing.â
Rowanâs chest began to ache. He remembered very well that he had rejected the gift.
âThatâs for the Kind Grandfather! Since he already treated us this
lunch, we should also treat him with the ice cream.â
âThank you very much, Kind Grandfather. If we already have much money, we will definitely treat you.â
Rowanâs lungs seemed to be entangled in thorns. He remembere very well that he had mocked the toddlersâ good intentions.
âCome here, Kind Grandfather. Sit here. We donât have many friends here. So, your presence means a lot to Louis.â
âEmily is right. Iâm glad someone cares about me. Thank you, Mister Harper. Youâre such a good person!â

Those smiles⦠those sweet wordsâ¦. He was afraid that he would
see and hear them again.
âBirthday cake should be distributed to special people first. Since you are our great-grandfather, you get it too!â
âYou are the best great grandfather in the world. And you know what, Great Grandpa? Mrs. Bell gave us vouchers for free shopping at a toy. shop. We can go there together later.â
Rowanâs tears became heavier. His breathing became shaky. He had never felt such deep fear. He really didnât want to go.
âLouis Emilyâ¦
With all his might, he braced himself. Slowly, the light returned. He could see Peter holding his shoulders while screaming for help. However, no sound caught his ears other than Louis and Emilyâs
voices.
âMy⦠my great-grandsonâ¦.â
Rowan started gasping for air. His heart felt like it had been stabbed by a knife. However, Rowan didnât care. Even though he was shaking, his hands kept trying to reach the teddy bears on the sidewalk.
âMy giftâ¦. My promiseâ¦. I havenât had time yetâ¦.â
Rowan groaned. The grip in his chest grew stronger. More tears. spilled. As he could no longer breathe, one word echoed in his l memory. âSorryâ¦.â

âDaddy, are you serious? Great Grandpa has really changed?â Emily asked, shaking Frankâs hand cheerfully as they walked into their mansion. Her eyes sparkled, waiting for an answer, and so did Louisâ.
âYes,â Frank nodded with a faint smile. âDaddy heard clearly about

âWe donât mind, Daddy,â Louis said with pursed lips. âEmily and I do want to advance the company in our own ways.â
Frankâs heart was filled with warm. Glancing at Kara, he widened his smile. âYou gave birth to truly amazing children, Kara.â
Karaâs cheeks flushed. âYeah, Louis and Emily are amazing.â
Then, she looked at the toddlers. âLittle Angels, why donât you call Great Grandpa now? Invite him to have dinner with us.â
âThatâs a great idea, Mommy! I canât wait to welcome him!â Emily said. in a sweet voice that warmed everyoneâs heart.
Louis nodded enthusiastically. âI canât wait it too! And if we make peace tonight, that means we can take Great Grandpa on the Savior tour tomorrow! We can cross out point number four, Emily!â
Suddenly, Frankâs phone rang. Seeing the name on the screen, his eyebrows met. âWhy does Peter call me?â
While the twins whisper to Kara about who Peter was, Frank received
the call. âYes?â
A moment later, Frank froze. His face turned pale as his head felt dizzy. It was like he was sucked into another dimension. Before h consciousness ran out, he quickly held on Kara.
What he had just heard was too unbelievable. What he was feeling was too difficult to understand.
âFrank, are you okay?â Kara supported him.
âDaddy?â The twins were worried too. They grabbed Frankâs legs and
held him so he wouldnât fall.

Frank finally knew it wasnât a dream. The reality had happened and it could not be denied.
âGrandpa Rowan ⦠Grandpa Rowanâ¦â He choked on his own words. How could he have the heart to tell Louis and Emily? They had just made a perfect plan for Rowan.
While Frank was still trying to gather strength, the servants suddenly came in a hurry. Some of them cried, some screamed, âYoung Master! Young Master! Mr. Rowan had an accident. Heâs goneâ¦.â
Kara gasped, while the toddlers blinked in confusion.
âHeâs gone? Is Great Grandpa⦠dead?â Louis looked at the people. with a frown on his face.
As no one could answer, Kara bent her knees, holding Louis and Emilyâs shoulders. The look on her face couldnât hide the grief.
At that very second, the twins knew. Rowan was gone and would never come back. With their cries breaking out, everyone was no longer able to hold back their tears. The only thing Kara could do was to hug the twins. Meanwhile, Frank bowed his head in resignation and
sorrow.
