Chapter 920
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 920: THE GAMMA WAS IN A GREAT TROUBLE "What is it?" Abby was curious. What just Iris realized?
The five swords that the people from the Holy Kingdom saw as sacred objects contained with Naâs divine power, therefore it could purify all the Serafim from negative effect, which caused them to visit it often.
However, because of the map had gone missing fifty years ago, Abby had never been there, where people assumed, it was because she had never been purified, thus she was very weak.
But the truth was not that.
Iris was actually unsure with the theory she had in her mind and at time like this, the first thing that came to her mind was; she really wanted to rush toward Cane and discuss this with him, hearing his opinion. He would be able to help her to tangle the knot in her mind.
But, Cane was also busy.
"What did you just realize, luna?" Grace was also curious about what made Iris lit up, but then her eyes clouded again, deep in thought.
Iris mumbled to herself. She really needed Cane.
"For a while," Iris said and then rushed out of the room to find Cane, while her little group followed behind her.
"Where are you going?" Ethan stopped her, grabbing her elbow. "Donât run, you can trip!" This would be a big of deal if something happened to Iris.
"Cane will kill us, you know," he added in low voice and Iris realized what he meant. "Do you even know where to find him?"
After that, Ethan took Iris to find Cane, which was rather easy for the shifter, because they could track him down quickly, since they were able to sense his scent.
They found Cane was with Cezi and Koda. If Iris was not too distracted by Louâs condition, she would have noticed that Koda was around pretty often recently, the last time he was also with Cane.
"What is it?" Cane knew Iris was there even before she knocked and entered the room. He stretched out his hand and opened the chair for her.
"Something is wrong?"
Iris didnât need to say anything, but Cane immediately knew. He then asked Cezi and Koda to leave the room and gave them space.
Koda looked at Iris with a frown, because no woman should interfere in menâ discussion, but he was wise enough not to say anything, because he knew how much Cane liked her, while Cezi was being very polite and left.
Æreewebɳovel.com "Donât you think itâs not appropriate for her to barge into the room and disturb our meeting? She should know her place and alpha Cane should teach her to behave," Koda grumbled, as he walked with Cezi toward the other building of the pack house, after walking passed Irisâs warriors in front of the door.
"I donât think she barged in, she knocked and the alpha let her in," Cezi replied.
"Yes, but he should tell her to go instead of us."
Cezi stopped walking and facing the old man. "I donât think it is your place to say what alpha Cane should and shouldnât do. More importantly, we have reached our decision. The meeting is over."
Koda was not happy to hear this, he thought Cezi would side with him. "A woman should know her place."
"Her status is above you, Koda. Be careful when you talked about her."
After saying that, Cezi didnât stay to watch Kodaâs outburst, because he had a lot more important things to do.
Koda was not even an alpha, his status was unclear, aside from being the future kingâs grandfather, he held no real power. The baby was the future king, but things might change in the future. Cezi could feel thing would definitely change in the future.
If they came out as a victor, who would let a baby to rule the whole kingdom after such a messy war?
Meanwhile, Ethan jumped out of his skin when he saw Aliana and Amee walked together, walking past them, after they made sure the alpha and the lunaâs bedroom was ready for them. Hanna initially with them, but she was needed to prepare Louâs bedroom.
"Why are you hiding? I thought the two of you are in relationship?" Kian asked Ethan, who was hiding behind him and Otis, while the other warriors stared at the gamma with confusion. He used to be all over Aliana, but now he avoided her.
"You know that she can still smell your scent, right? There is no point of you hiding there." Dean pointed out the obvious.
"Oh, shit...!" Ethan cursed, now Aliana knew that he was avoiding her. He wondered if he would still be forgiven.
Behind the closed door, Iris and Cane were talking about what her realization of Naâs power. It was beyond what she could imagine.
"Am I thinking too much and my imagination is too wild?" Iris doubted herself. She was sitting on the table now, while Cane was sitting on the chair in front of her, so she needed to look down at Cane.
"Wild imagination and thinking too much are not bad thing, love," Cane replied, his voice was soothing and this could calm down Irisâs anxiety.
She was thinking about this. If Cedricâs soul looked for her in his critical condition, where he was on the verge of death, because she was her protector, then Lou would do the same, regardless he was shifter or not, because every being had their own spirit and soul.
"This is too dangerous, donât you think?" Iris bit her lip and Cane kissed her knuckles. Her hands were cold.
This could be a way to safe Lou, but if her prediction was wrong, they were going to lost him. Yet, their choices to save the merchant were not easy.
They could ask Rei to help, which was not the option that Cane and Iris were fond of. Waiting for Caneâs man in Andelus continent to send the antidote was also an option, they could wait for him forever, but Lou couldnât.
And then this solution that Iris just figured out.
"If your guess was right, you can save him like you saved Cedric, right?" Cane caressed her cheek. She was so tensed up.
"Only if Lou came looking for me."
"I doubt he will miss the opportunity to find you."
Iris chuckled a little. Cane was right. The merchant wouldnât miss the opportunity to find her. Even with Cane by her side, it didnât stop the merchant.
"Letâs do it in your way."
"But, what if I am wrong?" Iris hated to admit this, but having Rei to help them would be the safer option to save Lou. "My guess could kill him."
"I think Lou will die happy to know that."
"Cane!" Iris frowned, she knew he was not serious about that. Weirdly, the two of them became close and worked well together. It would be Caneâs great disadvantage if they lost Lou.
"Your guess makes sense, Iris. It explains a lot of things and why you can see Cedricâs soul. Naâs power doesnât come to you in a whole, you need to figure out about it one by one. I am sure, you are well aware of that."
Cane was right. He really paid close attention to how Irisâs power grew, even though she had never talked about this, or didnât really discuss about this topic before, and now Naâs life essence had completely fused with her, of course, she would expect something more.
The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter With that, they decided to take this dangerous bet and waited until it really happened.
And after everything was settled, it was time to attend to the lovesick gamma, who kept pestering her and whining about how she didnât have time for him anymore.
"Now tell me what sin you have committed to make Aliana angry with you?" Iris finally made time for him and looked at the gamma with bright eyes that filled with annoyance and helplessness. She wondered why Cane didnât need Ethan and let him roamed around like a headless chicken.
Ethan grimaced when he heard the way Iris put it. "I donât know why she was mad at me." Iris raised her brows when she heard that and the gamma immediately corrected his statement. "Well, I know, but I donât understand why she is mad."
"Because you didnât see anything wrong with it?"
"Exactly."
"And what exactly that you have done?"
They were currently sitting under the tree that they saw when they went to the study room. This tree reminded them of the tree back in the Howling Wolf pack. They had one like this too.
Above them, the sky burst with the color of red.
"I..." Ethan frowned. "Okay, I feel like a jerk now."
"I know you are, but you have not yet told me." Iris chuckled when Ethan gave her a look. "Come on, you have been pestering the whole day, but now you donât want to tell me."
"I said I donât want a child with her." Iris raised her brows again, but she held back her tongue when Ethan threw his arms up. "I know thatâs stupid, but you need to listen to the context."
The gamma looked hesitated when he spoke again, because it would touch a sensitive topic about baby with Iris. But, after she assured him that she was fine now and occasionally she would have this topic with Cane and it was no longer that painful to talk about it, Ethan finally spoke.
"You may not notice this, but the death of your babies affected so many people, Iris."
