Chapter 2407

My Substitute CEO Bride

Maxim's disciples surrounded Dusky, blocking all his escape routes, though none dared approach him. The true energy aura radiating from Dusky was enough to intimidate everyone present. Dusky turned his head to face Maxim.

"You're the only one here worth fighting. So, what do you say? Want to give it a shot?"

"Let's see what you've got!" Maxim suddenly lunged forward, throwing a punch at Dusky.

Dusky was unfazed and simply lifted a finger, effortlessly blocking the strike. In an instant, the scene shifted, and Maxim took the battle to the sky. He followed up with another punch, but once again, Dusky calmly blocked it without breaking a sweat.

However, this was all part of Maxim's plan. He knew full well that he was not a match for a true god. Still, even gods could be sealed, and Maxim was the mighty exorcist who had purged the immortals from this region.

Maxim relished Dusky's unhurried response. That was the nature of gods-the more powerful they were, the more they underestimated their opponents. And the more they underestimated their opponents, the easier it was for someone like Maxim to seize an opportunity.

Even though Maxim's physical attacks had no effect on Dusky, he pressed on.

Dusky smirked. "As I thought. I still prefer your son, Thresmund, over you."

"Cut the crap!" Maxim suddenly fell back some distance, preparing for what would be his decisive strike.

His earlier seemingly reckless physical attacks were not as simple as they appeared. Brute strength was not the reason Maxim was able to tear through immortals; it was his unique constitution.

In ancient times, people feared enchantment wreaking havoc upon the world. It was through that fear that exorcists were born. Their role was to cleanse those who misused their powers.

Exorcists were never a single entity or a centralized organization; such individuals and groups existed in nearly every region. Over time, these exorcists evolved into localized organizations, like the Hunter Group of Grenford or the Truthspeaker Group near the coasts of the Southern Territory. And they all emphasized one thing legacy.

In this era, Maxim was seemingly the only one who had inherited the true legacy of an exorcist, untainted by external forces.

A hallmark trait of exorcists was their possession of a strange glowing stone. It was not just some glowing rock but something that negated magic, known as an 'anti-magic stone'. Such stones were thought to have vanished long ago.

However, Maxim was in possession of one, and it was now strapped to his wrist.

Maxim's ability involved using the anti-magic stone to conceal his own true energy. This made his punches appear futile from the opponent's perspective. However, each punch was actually a rehearsal. With his true energy, his attacks would possess a rewind effect.

Simply put, he could leave a mark wherever he threw his punch. If he wanted, he could make that mark reappear and deliver a progressively stronger punch at the same place. The biggest drawback of this ability was that if the opponent noticed the mark, they would be able to avoid it.

However, with the anti-magic stone concealing his true energy, he was able to cover his tracks flawlessly. As a result, Maxim could attack his enemies from seemingly nowhere.

Like every other foe he had encountered, Dusky was not afraid of the seemingly ordinary punches and simply stood his ground without dodging.

Maxim had used this very technique to defeat many immortals, and now, Dusky was surrounded by the marks.

Next came the decisive punch...
