Chapter 2476
My Substitute CEO Bride
Enid tripped over a loose stone on the ground and fell, inadvertently avoiding Harkin's attack by pure chance.
At that moment, the Mother of Immortals began to exert her power. Her energy quickly wrapped around Thresmund and then re-entered his body.
A fierce struggle ensued between Harkin and Thresmund as they vied for control over his body. In the end, Harkin managed to win, forcefully rejecting the Mother of Immortals' power from Thresmund's body.
She raised her clawed hand once more.
"It's over!" Harkin declared.
"Granny, did we fail?" Enid asked in fear.
However, Blaque smiled confidently. "No, we succeeded."
"Succeeded? But... Thresmund didn't regain control of his body..." Enid replied, confused.
"I wasn't trying to awaken him," Blaque responded.
In the real world, Harkin's raised hand froze mid-air. She could sense a strange change within Thresmund's body.
"No... This can't be... It's impossible! Ahh!" Harkin's spirit was forcibly ejected back into her own body.
Thresmund's eyes opened once more.
"You little mink demon, how bold of you," said a voice from within Thresmund. It was the immortal spirit, Sky, who had been awakened!
Blaque had known that Harkin's power could only affect human souls. When she entered Thresmund's body, her true goal was not to awaken Thresmund's own soul but to rouse the dormant power of the immortal spirit residing within him. After the chaotic struggle for control, Thresmund's immortal spirit was able to break free from Harkin's influence and take over his body.
Realizing the situation had turned against her, Harkin quickly fled. Sky, the highest-ranking of the immortal spirits, was a force even Harkin dared not challenge.
Unlike Blaque, who was just a fragment of a soul, Sky and the other elders were far more formidable.
Sky, now controlling Thresmund's body, turned toward the Mother of Immortals and bowed respectfully. "Thank you for your assistance."
"It was nothing. You may leave now," Blaque responded.
"As you wish," Sky replied.
Thresmund returned to normal, but he collapsed, becoming unconscious within moments. Being possessed repeatedly had taken its toll on him, though there was no danger to his life. He was simply exhausted.
The referee then stepped forward to announce the result, "The winner is Enid Goode!"
...
Huntley opened his eyes.
"W-Where am I?" He looked around, completely bewildered by his unfamiliar surroundings. "Am I in the underworld?"
He scanned the room. Thick curtains covered the windows, shrouding the area in darkness. As he tried to get up, he realized he was tied to the bed.
"What's going on? What happened?"
The door to the room slowly opened, and two shadowy figures stepped inside. Huntley tried to summon his true energy, but he could not access the magical weapon in his pocket.
"W-What's happening? Who are you?"
