Chapter 2520

My Substitute CEO Bride

Clint did not expect Thresmund to still be able to absorb power and true energy after the red barrier collapsed. He had indeed been influenced by his ability to manipulate time and space. Nevertheless, he knew he had to stop Thresmund. He quickly transported Anox to the hospital and then set off toward another battlefield.

...

As the fights drew to a close, Maxim could hardly believe how Philemon had exploited the anti-magic stone's weakness. It suddenly dawned on him why Philemon had opened such a valuable pawn shop. He also remembered the significance of controlling the mineral industry.

While viewed by others as merely an ordinary luxury stone, emerald was a source of tremendous danger in Maxim's and Philemon's eyes. Due to its unique properties, emerald was a natural material used for crafting artifacts, and this was precisely why Maxim and Philemon were fearful of it.

Emerald did not inherently carry true energy, thus making it one of the best materials for crafting artifacts. Moreover, its properties gave it the opposite capabilities of the anti-magic stones.

While anti-magic stones primarily relied on their own energy to negate true energy, emeralds could absorb true energy.

Therefore, anti-magic stones did not affect emeralds. However, that was not the major issue. There were very few idle enough to create a massive emerald cage unaffected by true energy to restrain those possessing anti-magic stones. The reason was simple. While an emerald could absorb true energy, it could only receive one type of true energy at a time.

Emerald was highly sensitive to the true energy surrounding it, making it incredibly challenging for martial artists to craft such a controlling artifact using their hands. Yet, somehow, Philemon had managed to achieve this.

Maxim ran his fingers over the translucent emerald wall, realizing that this cage must have taken nearly several decades to construct. It had been drawing upon the power of the anti-magic stones continuously during its creation, allowing it to effectively trap Maxim.

However, this massive emerald cage merely prohibited him from using the power of the anti-magic stones. If he were to unleash his physical power and smash the thick emerald wall with a single punch, he could break free.

However, Philemon had also foreseen this.

"Mr. Young, don't waste your effort. With how thick the emerald is, you can't break through," Philemon taunted.

Maxim chuckled. "You're quite fortunate to have found such a large piece of emerald. It's a rare find."

Indeed, this emerald was bigger than a person, a rarity that occurred only once in a hundred years as most emerald pieces were generally not particularly large.

For emeralds to be effective against anti-magic stones, they had to be complete. Fragmented or fused pieces simply did not work, and this was because the pieces would have already interacted with each other during the crafting process.

Hence, it was essential for the emerald to be a whole piece. This was the reason Maxim had never been defeated. The conditions needed to control the anti-magic stones within him were too stringent, making it a dream. Yet, Philemon had achieved this very feat.

"I advise you to give up," Philemon said contemptuously. "You won't be able to crack open this emerald with brute force unless you use true energy."

Maxim did not respond. Philemon assumed his masterpiece was perfect and thought Maxim had given up on struggling. Just then, Nash entered the venue. "Gentlemen, where's Maxim?"

Tobiah pointed at the massive emerald cage.

Nash looked at the emerald cage in confusion. "Can it really control Maxim?"

Philemon nodded and confidently replied, "Of course! This is an artifact I prepared specifically for dealing with Maxim."

Nash ran his fingers over the surface of the emerald.
