Chapter 2629

My Substitute CEO Bride

The ability to harness this power depended on who would ultimately prevail-the token or Nash.

Nash continued to channel his true energy, knowing that if he failed to provide a moment of protection, the power of the token would consume him.

After directly touching the token earlier, he finally understood why Alistair refrained from using it after obtaining it. He was probably not as reckless as Nash.

The All Souls Token had long ago become an ownerless object. Nash discovered this information before heading to the South District.

Once a powerful artifact of a great sect, it had gradually fallen into obscurity over the millennia. Now, there were no records of that sect left, and the name of the sect or the lineage of its leaders was lost to time.

Thus, the current All Souls Token was an ownerless relic. Whoever could truly tame this ritualistic weapon would gain a unique and powerful force, forged from the efforts of humanity over countless years.

With this thought in mind, Nash intensified his effort to mobilize his entire true energy. He believed that if he just pushed a little harder...

"No! No!" A voice echoed within Nash's mind.

He suddenly threw the token to the ground, taking a deep breath afterward. "W- What just happened?"

Nash felt disoriented. What was wrong with him? If not for the warning from that voice in his head, he would have surely exhausted his true energy and died here.

He gazed in horror at his burned arm. "Did I begin to be controlled by this token the moment I subconsciously activated my true energy?"

He could not believe it. He had unknowingly fallen under the control of the token and nearly met his demise. He looked at the token lying on the ground that was emitting a faint golden glow.

"Disaster Magnet..." The voice rang in his head again.

His mind buzzed with confusion.

"Who are you? Who is in my head?" He clutched his head in anguish, yet his body still yearned to touch the All Souls Token again.

"No, time... There's no time! Everyone is still waiting for me!"

Ignoring the voice's warning, Nash struggled to approach the token once more.

The token emitted a faint golden light, which Nash also noticed.

"Gold? Is it because it has absorbed my true energy? I remember it was blue when I first found it...

"Could it be..." A bold idea sparked in Nash's mind.

If this idea proved correct, he might be able to master the All Souls Token. However, if he was wrong, he might end up being destroyed completely. He had no time to hesitate now.

He arrived at the side of the All Souls Token-a treasure of the human emperors and a powerful force coveted by countless warriors.

Nash realized he might have been blinded by this established norm.

However, what if he was not a warrior?

Earlier, he reached out to touch the token without concentrating his true energy.

He bore burn marks, prompting him to instinctively activate his true energy for protection.

However, what if that was precisely what the token wanted him to do?
