Chapter 506
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
Richard sneered, âNaturally, I have my own plans too.â
Cyrus finally realized Richard had used him. Richard had intentionally allowed him to go abroad to find Sean, only to have him bring Sean back and then disca âDad, youâll regret this someday!â Cyrus snarled.
Richard didnât bother to look at him anymore. He glanced at Frank, who immediately ordered the guards to take Cyrus away.
Soon, Cyrusâ furious shouting grew quieter until it completely disappeared.
Sean also tried to leave, but Richardâs men held him back. His face paled as he looked at Richard with anger. âMr. Sumner, what is the meaning of this?â
Richard sat down with a smile. âDr. Merritt, donât worry. I can offer you double the benefits my son promised you. But the condition is that your hypnosis m such as the patient turning into an idiotâyou might find it very difficult to leave here.â
Sean had come for the high treatment fee, so hearing Richardâs offer to double the payment eased his anxiety.
âI agree,â he said.
Richard smiled. âYouâre a smart man, Dr. Merritt.â
He raised his hand, and Frank promptly handed a check to Sean.
âThis is the deposit. I will pay the remaining amount in full after the procedure,â Richard said.
Receiving the check and seeing the amount on it, Seanâs last bit of doubt faded.
He smiled and said, âMr. Sumner, you can rest assured that the procedure will be a success.â
Richard nodded. âGood. If there are no issues, weâll schedule the procedure within the next few days. Now, letâs discuss the specific details.â
An hour later, Richard arranged for Sean to be taken to a hotel, assigning a few people to protect him.
Although they were said to be protecting him, their real job was to prevent him from having any contact with Cyrus.
The next morning, Damon received a call from the Sumner residence saying that Marie was ill and requesting his return as soon as he arrived at the office.
Damon lowered his gaze, his voice cold. âIf sheâs sick, she should see a doctor. Iâm not a doctor.â
âMr. Summerâ¦â The maid on the other end of the line sounded helpless as she sighed. âItâs obvious that your motherâs illness is a matter of the heart. Ev âIâm very busy right now. Iâll deal with it when I have time,â Damon replied, his tone dismissive.
With that, he hung up.
The maid placed the phone down and nervously glanced at the sternâfaced Richard. âMr. Summer, Mr. Damon refuses to come backâ¦â
Richard shot her a cold look. âIâm not deaf.â
Frightened by his icy gaze, the maid quickly lowered her head and fell silent.
After a moment of stillness, Richard summoned Frank into the study and said coldly, âGo get some of Nylaâs belongings from Clark.â
Clark and Nyla had been married for three years, so there must be some of her things left.
Since they couldnât persuade Damon, they would have to use Nyla to their advantage.
Frank looked up in shock, his expression reflecting hesitation. âMr. Summer⦠wonât this be a bit too much?
Nyla was already gone, no matter what. Using her belongings to manipulate Damon into coming back⦠Was that really appropriate?â
