Chapter 507
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
Richardâs expression was cold. âWhat do you know? Just do as I say! Itâs her honor that she can help the Sumners one last time after her death!â
Seeing Richardâs resolute demeanor, Frank chose not to argue further and left the study.
That evening, Damon received another call from the Summer residence. This time, it was Richard himself on the line, not a maid.
âCome back immediately,â he ordered.
The commanding tone made Damonâs eyes narrow. âIâm busy. If itâs not something important, please stop calling me.â
âVery well! Fine!â Each of Richardâs words dripped with anger. âIt seems your motherâs illness doesnât matter to you! Let me ask you, are Nylaâs belongings important to you?!â
Damon tightened his grip on the phone. âHer belongings?!â
Hearing the agitation in Damonâs voice, Richard felt reassured that his decision was right. That woman would only cost Damon his life if he kept thinking about her!
With that thought, Richardâs earlier hesitation transformed into resolve. âYes, her belongings are here. If you want them, come back for dinner. I have something to discuss with you. If you donât want them, Iâll have the service staff burn them.â
âIâll be there shortly,â Damon replied.
After hanging up, he immediately left the office.
On the way to the Summer residence, he couldnât help but wonder why Richard was using Nylaâs belongings to coerce him into returning.
The morningâs call about Marie being sick and now the threat regarding Nylaâs belongingsâit couldnât just be about a simple dinner.
He called Spencer and instructed, âCheck on what my father has been doing lately.â
âUnderstood, Mr. Sumner,â Spencer replied.
Within an hour, Damonâs car pulled up at the Sumner residence.
At the same time, Spencerâs call came in.
He reported, âMr. Sumner, there hasnât been much change in Mr. Richardâs behavior recently, except that he saw a doctor.â
Given the maidâs earlier call about Marieâs illness, Damon didnât give it much thought. He asked, âAnything else?â
âNothing else,â Spencer replied.
âOkay, got it.â Damon ended the call, got out of the car, and walked into the Sumner residence.
As he stepped into the living room, he sensed something was different from his last visit, though he couldnât pinpoint what had changed.
A wellâdressed foreigner was seated there.
Upon hearing Damonâs footsteps, he turned around with a smile. âMr. Sumner, hello. Iâm your motherâs doctor. You can call me Dr. Merritt.â, Damon regarded him with indifference, showing no interest. âMm.â
Sean was unfazed by Damonâs aloofness and continued speaking with a smile. âMr. Sumner, if you have time now, Iâd like to discuss your motherâs condition with you.â
â
Damonâs intuition told him that something was off about this doctor. He replied coldly, âNo need. I have matters to attend to.â
With that, he turned and headed toward the study on the first floor.
He was there for Nylaâs belongings, not to waste time with a doctor.
Seanâs calm voice followed him. âMr. Sumner, if you want to get what you came for, itâs best to speak with me first.â
