Chapter 582
Trading My Ex for His Uncle
Nyla turned around and said indifferently, âAlright, I wonât see you out, Mr. Sumner.â
Damonâs gaze darkened further as he sensed her dismissive attitude. He knew she wouldnât call him. Even if she didnât, it was fineâthe principal would notify him.
âGoodbye,â he replied.
After Damon left, Oliver hesitated for a moment before asking how Damon had ended up coming back with them that day.
Nyla couldnât help but raise an eyebrow. âYouâve been holding that in for a while, havenât you?â
Oliver exchanged a glance with her and laughed. âIâm just a bit curious.â
Nyla briefly recounted how Mason had gotten into a fight at school and how Damon had arrived not long after her.
After hearing this, Oliver frowned. âNyla, with something that serious happening, why didnât you contact me?â
Nyla pressed her lips together and looked down. âI was too anxious at the time. It didnât occur to me.â
Besides, she had just learned that Oliver had been forced to resign because of her and Mason. Even if she had remembered, she wouldnât have called him. She had already caused him enough trouble and didnât want to burden him again.
âWell, just remember not to forget next time,â Oliver reminded her.
âOkay,â Nyla replied.
Looking at her serene profile, Oliver said softly, âDonât worry about me leaving the Raynor Group. I can handle it.â
Leaving the Raynor Group was only temporary. He had other plans outside the company. If he couldnât return, he would build his own business empire from scratch.
Nyla opened her mouth to reply, but Oliverâs phone suddenly rang.
Seeing it was Hugh, he frowned but answered the call.
âDad, whatâs up?â he asked.
âYou need to come back right now. I have something to discuss!â Hugh ordered.
Just as Oliver was about to respond, he heard a busy signal.
He looked at Nyla with a helpless expression. âI wanted to have dinner with you and Buddy, but it looks ike I canât. My dad wants me back.â
âThere will be plenty of chances in the future. Take care of your matters first,â Nyla assured him.
âYeah,â Oliver replied.
After leaving Nylaâs home, Oliver drove straight back to his house.
As soon as he stepped into the living room, Hugh threw a document at his feet. âOliver, I didnât expect you to have this kind of capability! You think youâre impressive?!â
Looking at Hughâs furious face, Oliver felt confused as he picked up the document.
When he saw that it was related to the Keithstone Groupâs resort project, he was taken aback. âThe Keithstone Group wants to collaborate with the Rayn Group?â
Hugh scoffed. âWhat are you pretending to be confused about? The Keithstone Group said they would only sign the deal with the Raynor Group if you were the CEO. Thatâs why you resigned so l knew you were waiting for this!â
Oliver frowned. âWhat do you mean? I spoke to the Keithstone Group, but they said the Raynor Group wasnât on their list of potential partners. Thatâs why I gav project. How could they-â
âYou know exactly whatâs going on! If you want to return to the Raynor Group so much, fine, but Fred must become vice CEO!â Hugh laid down his terms.
Oliver didnât understand why the Keithstone Group would make such a demand, but it didnât matter now. No matter how he explained, Hugh wouldnât bel He slowly raised his gaze to meet Hughâs and spoke deliberately. âDad, I want to ask you why youâre treating me like this. Iâve been the CEO of the Raynor Group for five years and thought I was doing a good job. Why, just because of one mistake, did you force me to resign? Does my hard work over these five years mean nothing to you?!â
