Chapter 1230
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Corinneâs pregnancy hormones made her more impatient than ever. She was already in a bad mood
from seeing Jeremy, and Sophiaâs nonsensical babbling pushed her to the edge.
Corinne raised her hand, intending to push Sophia out of the way. Just as her fingers brushed her
shoulder, Sophia flew out and hit her head on the cashier counter as though propelled by some
invisible force. Blood started to trickle down her forehead, causing her to scream out in pain.
Corinne frowned at Sophiaâs subpar acting. âI canât believe just a few minutes ago, I thought this
woman was smarter than Anya in her manipulation method! Welp, sheâs not that much smarter after
all.â
Corinne did not feel guilty at all as she did not even touch Sophia before she fell on her own accord.
âItâs just as well that she fell. I can leave the restaurant now.â
However, she did not even take two steps before Jeremy shouted at her, âWhere do you think youâre
going?!â
Corinne stopped and turned to look at him. âWhat? Do I need your permission to leave too?â
Jeremyâs face darkened. He strode toward where Sophia was on the floor and helped her up before
glaring at Corinne. âHow can you leave when youâre the reason Sophia is so badly hurt?â
âForget it, Jeremy. Iâm okay. Please donât ruin your reunion with Miss Corinne because of meâ¦â said
Sophia, pretending to be stoic.
Jeremy scoffed. âI know you mean well, Sophia. But I donât think sheâs the type to appreciate it.âBooks

Sophia shook her head and squeezed out a smile. âIâm fine.â
Corinneâs eyes had grown icy cold by then. âMister Jeremy, you should know that she wouldnât let me
leave just now so I had no choice but to push her aside.â
Jeremy took a step toward her and looked at her threateningly. âYou can push her aside, but not to the
point sheâd fall and hurt her head!â
He was still the same man she knew, but this time, her position with Sophia had been switched.
Previously, whenever Corinne was accused of something she did not do, Jeremy would unconditionally
come to her defense. He would believe she was innocent even when she did not tell him.
This time, he chose to believe his legally married wifeâSophia.
âWell, I guess I shouldnât be surprised,â thought Corinne. âI was more important than all the random girls
that tried to pull me down in the past, so of course heâd side with me. But now that itâs his wife weâre
dealing with⦠It only makes sense heâd choose to believe her over me.â
Even though Corinne understood the reasoning behind Jeremyâs action, she could not help but feel
chilled to the core.
âThen what do you want me to do?â she sneered
Jeremy looked at her from head to toe before gesturing with his chin to Sophia. âApologize to her, and
weâll let the whole thing slide.â
âWhat? He wants me to apologize to her for something I didnât do?â
Corinne smirked. âYou might as well sue me because Iâm never going to apologize. She knows very
well that I donât have the strength to push her that hard.â
Sophia took a deep breath pitifully and said, âSheâs right! It was my fault. I was caught off balance, and
thatâs why I fell. Jeremy, please, letâs forget the whole thing. Iâm really okay!â
Jeremy was not going to let Corinne off the hook so easily. He took another threatening step toward
her. âIâm only going to ask you one last time. Are you or are you not going to apologize?â
Corinne felt her heart aching. She was not hurt by the fact that she was wrongfully accused but by the
fact that Jeremy did not believe her.
