Chapter 1324
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
At the hospital.
The doctor had just finished doing tests on Corinne and was walking out to report her condition to
Lucas and Sunny.
âMiss Corinne passed out because of the shock she received. Itâs good you brought her in just in time.
Both she and the baby are okay.â
Lucas and Sunny visibly relaxed and heaved a sigh of relief when they heard that.
âBut, thereâs still a risk of her going into premature labor since sheâs so close to the due date. Itâs best
to keep her in the hospital until the baby is born,â added the doctor.
Lucas agreed with the doctor. He was worried Corinne would get into another shock if he took her
home. Thus, he gestured with his chin to Edmund and said, âFill in the forms for Corinneâs hospital
stay.â
âYes, Mister Lucas.â
Sunny frowned as he watched Edmund leave. He then turned to Lucas, âLucas, how did Jeremyâ¦â
Lucasâ face darkened. âWhy are you still bringing that up? Hasnât Corinne had enough shock for one
day?â
Realizing his mistake, Sunny hung his head low in shame and said nothing else.
âRemember to not bring up Jeremyâs death in front of Corinne later when we go in to see her,â warned
Lucas again.
âYes, Lucas,â said Sunny with a nod.
â¦
Corinne was already awake when they entered her hospital room. She was staring blankly at the
ceiling as though her soul had left her body.
Lucasâ heart ached when he saw her in such a state. He walked over to her bed, and asked softly,
âCorinne, how are you feeling now? Do you feel pain anywhere?â
Corinne shook her head without looking at him. âIâm fine. Perfectly fine,â she said hollowly.
The more she tried to seem like she was fine, the more Lucas worried about her. He reached out to
stroke her head. âCorinne, Iâve asked Edmund to arrange for you to stay in the hospital. You can stay
here until the baby is born. Iâll stay with you too, so donât worry, okay?â
Corinne snapped out of her trance a little. She looked at Lucas. âYou donât have to do this. Iâm sure you
have plenty of work to do, so Iâll be fine staying here alone. Donât worry. Iâve calmed down and wonât do
anything thatâll put the babyâs life at risk.â
Lucas was relieved to hear her say that. âIâm glad you can think that way. Some things can never be
salvaged no matter what. The most important thing is to continue living and keep those you love safeâ
for example, your soon-to-be-born baby.â
Corinne smiled. âOf course Iâll keep my baby safe! As for that man⦠Well, he has nothing to do with us
anymore, right? So what if heâs dead? Itâs better that way since that means he wonât be able to harass
me or the baby anymore. Plus, I donât ever have to worry about him stealing the baby away from me
now.â
Lucas frowned. âThatâs one way of thinking about it. But I hope you wonât spend too much time thinking
about him, Corinne. You need all the rest you can get.â
Sunny wiped away his tears with his arm. âHmph! I know you guys broke up, but how can you say
something so evil like that, Corinne? How can you think Jeremyâs death is a good thing when he used
to be so good to you?â he asked angrily.
Hearing this, Lucas glared coldly at him and shouted, âYou, get lost!â
Sunny was so mad and sad that he did not care about what Lucas thought at that moment. He
harrumphed again and left the hospital room without turning back.
âIgnore him, Corinne. He doesnât know any better,â Lucas comforted Corinne gently after Sunny had left
the room.
Corinne nodded. âLucas, can you please get me those cream puffs from Eighth Street? I have a
sudden craving for them.â
âSure, Iâll get someone to buy them for you later,â said Lucas.
A second later, he looked at Corinne in disbelief. âWhat did you call me just now?â
