Chapter 1323
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
âWait a minute⦠What does it matter if it was Jeremy? He doesnât have anything to do with me
anymore!â thought Corinne, calming down a little. After that, she threw away the flier and walked back
to the mansion.
The servants could not help but worry when they saw her walking away so fast, so they started chasing
after her.
âMiss Corinne, please slow down!â
âMiss Corinne, be careful. Donât trip!â
â¦
Corinne ran into the house panting and saw Lucas sitting on the sofa, checking on Sunnyâs homework.
Striding over, she asked, âIs it true that Jeremy is dead?â
Lucasâ expression hardened as he looked up at her. âWho told you that?â he asked with a frown.
Seeing Lucasâ reaction and recalling how he had been acting weird for the past two days along with
Sophiaâs sudden visit during lunchtime, Corinne knew what the flier said was true.
Her eyes turned red with anger. âWhy didnât you tell me?â
Lucas stood up despondently and walked toward her. âCorinne, I didnât mean to wouldnât be able to
take it and the babyâ¦â
Not wanting to listen to him any further, Corinne pushed him away and go out for a while!â
After that, she turned around to leave, but Lucas grabbed her wrist to stop her. âCorinne, please calm
down. Thereâs nothing you can do now. Plus, you said you donât want to have anything to do with
Jeremy anymore!â
Corinneâs mind was in chaos, and she felt like she had been stabbed in the heart. âBut that doesnât
mean I want him to die!â
Lucas frowned and looked at her with a pained expression. âCorinne, please calm downâ¦â
At that moment, Corinne was too emotional to listen to any reason. She tried me go! I need to go out!
Give me a car!â
âCorinne, youâre eight months pregnant right now! You should think about the baby even if you donât
want to think about yourself! Just think about it. Now that Jeremyâs dead, the baby is the only surviving
bloodline he has! Can you bear to see anything happen to the baby?â
Corinne gradually calmed down after that.
Lucas pulled her into an embrace and gently patted her back. âThere, there. Everythingâs going to be
alright. Be a good girl and just stay at home, okay?â
Corinneâs bloodshot eyes became teary as they went in and out of focus. âTell me who did it,â she
asked in a trembling voice.
At that point, Lucas thought there was no need to hide anything from her anymore. âFrom what I know,
Jeremyâs father was quite the player, so my guess is one of his illegitimate sons killed Jeremy with the
plan to take over his place.â
Jeremyâs father had a lot of illegitimate kids with different women over the years, and Jeremy had to
learn to protect himself from the threats brought by his half-brothers. Each of them vehemently wished
for his death so that they could get their hands on the Holdensâ vast family fortune.
Corinne had never heard Jeremy talk about his father or half-siblings before. In fact, this was the first
time she learned about it. Back then, she did find it weird that she had never seen Jeremyâs parents or
why he never talked about them before, but she felt it was not her place to ask.
Suddenly, Lucas felt Corinne went slack in his embrace. He looked down and saw her eyes were
closed.
âCorinne? Corinne! Wake up, Corinne!â
âSh*t, this isnât good!â thought Lucas when he failed to wake Corinne up. âQuick, call the ambulance!
No, wait! Donât call the ambulance. Drive the car around! We need to send Corinne to the nearest
hospital!â
Sunny was first stunned, but he quickly snapped out of it and ran out to shout for the driver.
