Chapter 1590
The Day I Kissed An Older Man
Aaron rolled up the window as he spoke, causing Annie to blush inexplicably.
âWhy are you nervous?* she asked him with a frown.
Aaron came closer and asked, âWell, arenât you? After all, weâre getting married tomorrow.â
Annieâs expression froze before a small smile broke through. âIâm actually not that nervous.â
She was not nervous as she did not believe Aaron would go through with the marriage. She was sure
he was just flirting with her.
Aaron pretended to be disappointed. âSigh, it seems Iâm the only one whoâs nervous. You donât care
about our marriage at all!â
Annie could not bear to be with him like that, so she said, âItâs getting late.
Please, kindly send me how now.â 2 Aaron sighed. As helpless as he felt at that moment, he knew he
deserved it for treating Annie badly in the past.
Two days later, at New Capital City Airport, Sophia came to pick up her father alone, leaving Jeremy
and Bryan to wait at home.
Sophia instinctively glared at Melinda when she saw her coming out with Adam before running toward
her father and hugging him.
âDad, youâre finally here! You have no idea how hard the things you asked me to deal with have been
lately. Iâm about this close to going crazy!â said Sophia.
Adam hugged his eldest daughter and stroked her head lovingly. âDonât worry, Iâm here now. No one
will dare to cause you trouble anymore!â âYouâre the best, Dad!â said Sophia as she snuggled into her
fatherâs arms, and relief washed over her. She knew her father always made good on his promise.
âSophia, you havenât greeted Melinda yet. Where are your manners?â Adam reminded his daughter.
Sophia, who just felt the warmth of her fatherâs love, paused at her fatherâs admonishment.
Nonetheless, she quickly put on a superficial smile as she turned to Melinda.
âHello, Melinda. Itâs been a while. Youâve become even more beautiful than the last time I saw you. In
fact, you havenât aged at all. Seems like my father takes good care of you!â
Melinda smiled back. Although she could hear the sarcasm in Sophiaâs voice, she decided to let it slide.
She cared for her stepdaughter sincerely, so she said, âSophia, you have lost weight. Is it because
youâve been so busy dealing with your fatherâs affairs recently that you havenât been eating well?â
At that point, she turned her head and scolded Adam softly, âItâs all because of you. You shouldnât have
let her come here all alone to do so many things. Look at how thin she is!â
Adam smiled at her and said nothing. He simply accepted her admonishment humbly.
However, Sophia did not appreciate this. She just smiled politely and said,â
Thank you for caring about me, Melinda, but itâs my duty to help my father. After all, Iâll eventually take
over the business. Heâs just toughening me up, which Iâm very grateful for.â
She was indirectly warning Melinda to give up any thought of taking the business for herself by
emphasizing that she alone was Adamâs heir.
Melinda simply nodded and said, âWell, as long as youâre grateful for the opportunity.â
Sophia was too paranoid in this matter. Melinda did not care about Adamâs business or his assets, nor
did her daughter Lilin. She would not even interfere with Adamâs decision to distribute his assets in the
future.
