Chapter 112
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 112:
âThank you, Mrs. Wall. Noahâs happiness is my greatest concern,â she stated firmly, her gaze dropping modestly while a soft glow of joy illuminated her expression.
The two women exchanged lighthearted words and laughter, their voices occasionally mingling in a melody that filled the room with a comforting, welcoming aura.
Meanwhile, Sadie reclined on her bed, enveloped in the solitude of her room.
The distant hum of conversation floated up from below, but she didnât bother to listen.
Isabel had never been fond of her, and having her around now would only make Sadie feel even more uneasy.
With a weary sigh, she closed her eyes, seeking refuge in the fleeting escape of sleep.
However, the serenity was abruptly pierced by a sharp knock at the door.
âMrs. Wall, Mr. Wallâs mother is here. Please come downstairs.â
The servant spoke politely at the doorway.
Sadie hesitated, yearning for nothing more than solitude.
She began to shut the door to escape the social obligations waiting outside. But the conversations drifting up from below paused her movements.
âKyla, have you noticed an increase in your weight? Could it possibly meanâ¦?â Isabelâs tone was filled with curious expectation.
âReally, Isabel? Do you think I appear heavier?â Kyla responded, her voice tinged with shy happiness.
Sadness washed over Sadie abruptly.
Her hand instinctively moved to her abdomen.

âBoth you and Noah arenât getting younger. Itâs time to consider settling down.â Isabelâs voice echoed once more, decisive and clear.
âIâll let Noah decide,â responded Kyla, her voice both soft and determined.
Color drained from Sadieâs face.
Breathing became a laborious task for her.
She mused over the ironyâher existence and that of her child seemed like some harsh jest, overlooked by all.
Sadie forcefully closed the door, cutting off the sounds of laughter and conversation rising from below.
Resting her back against the wood, she gradually slid down to the carpeted floor.
Her hands wrapped around her abdomen, fingers quivering slightly. Within her, a new life was taking shape, its future as precarious as hers.
Inhaling sharply, she fought to control the tears threatening to spill. Her hands shook as she pulled her phone from her pocket and dialed Alex.
âHello?â Alex answered, his voice tinged with surprise and concern.
âSadie? Is that you? Is everything okay?â
There was a mix of worry and restrained joy in his tone.
âHas Noah been giving you a hard time? Iâve been trying to reach you for days.â
Sadie struggled to hold back her emotions, her voice breaking. âAlex, I need your help. Iâm thinking of leaving the country.â
Alex was shocked and responded, âLeaving the country? Can you tell me whatâs going on?â
With her eyes shut tightly, Sadie took another deep breath, trying to steady her overwhelming feelings.
She said, âI feel trapped. He monitors my every move. It feels like Iâm suffocating here.â
She hesitated before adding, âI wonât forget this help youâve given me. And regarding my secret dealings with Mr. DominguezâI must step back from it. Please handle it yourself. I expect no gains from it.â
