Chapter 340
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 340:
âMiss Hudson, Iâm heading to Stonemont Estate.â Nanette stood at the door of Sadieâs office, holding a package containing the Dewy Hibiscus series.
âDrive safely,â Sadie called out without looking up from her desk.
After Nanette left, the studio became even quieter. The only sound that could be heard was the ticking of the clock and the occasional taps on the keyboard. Sadieâs focus was on her computer screen as she pored over design after design.
Her concentration was broken when her phone chimed with a new WhatsApp message.
It was from Amy.
Sadieâs heart skipped a beat, and a keen sense of foreboding came over her.
She hadnât had much contact with Amy since she left Majestic Ego.
Sadie opened the message and froze as she processed the words Amy had sent. âVivi resigned.â Vivi?
Sadieâs breath hitched, and her fingers instinctively tightened around her mouse.
Vivi had been her rival back at Majestic Ego and had always been hostile towards her. After Sadie left, Vivi had wasted no time taking over her position as the lead designer.
Why would Vivi resign out of the blue?
Sadieâs heart began to race as her thoughts became a tangled mess.
Was there trouble at Majestic Ego, or was Vivi moving on to something else? âIt canât beâ¦â Sadie muttered to herself, even as she struggled to dismiss the suspicions that formed in her mind. Try as she might, however, that feeling of unease from earlier seemed to rush back in full force.
She quickly typed out a reply for Amy. âWhat happened? Do you know why she resigned?â
ðÃЯE ðPÄÎTÎÅ IÐ GÎÅÐÃVÎÅÅ.áÃá°
Sadie hit send and stared at her phone screen intently. The rhythmic ticking of the clock only served to heighten her anxiety. And thenâDing!
Sadie frantically opened the new message.
Amyâs reply was short. âSheâs returning to her home country, your country.â Vivi was coming back?
It felt like a bucket of ice had fallen over Sadieâs head. The timing of Viviâs return⦠It couldnât have been a mere coincidence.
âThank you,â Sadie typed with trembling fingers.
Needless to say, Viviâs return was not good news for her.
She glanced at the time; Averiâs classes were about to be dismissed. She needed to pick him up.
Sadie saved her revisions and closed her computer. Then she grabbed her purse and coat and left the studio, her mind still a jumbled mess.
As Sadie and Averi left the kindergarten, their hands intertwined, Averi clutched a handmade pinwheel. It spun with each skip he took, his laughter filling the air. âLook, Mommy! See how fast my pinwheel spins?â Averi shouted joyfully, holding it up.
Warmly, Sadie smiled and tousled his hair. âIt truly is amazing. Youâre so talented, Averi!â
However, the sudden ringing of her phone interrupted their moment. With a slight sense of dread, Sadie glanced at her phone, seeing Nanetteâs name on the caller ID.
